Attacks kill 50 Iraqis, 8 U.S. troops

UZ KHORMATO, Iraq - Suicide bombings killed nearly 50 people and wounded dozens in two Shiite villages north of Baghdad, including a large truck explosion Saturday that ripped through an outdoor market and buried victims in rubble, officials said.

Separately, eight American troops and a British soldier were killed in fighting over two days.

The blasts suggested that Sunni militants are regrouping to launch their deadliest form of attack — suicide explosions, often against Shiites — in regions further away from Baghdad, beyond the edges of a three-week old U.S. offensive on the capital's northern flank.

Violence continued in Baghdad, though at a lower level. A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-packed vehicle near an Iraqi army patrol in an eastern district of the capital, and there were reports of casualties, but the Interior Ministry could not immediately confirm the number.

6. The insurgents (Sunni or Shiite) are not about race

it's about taking back their country from foreigner occupiers using cruel tactics.

Killings are happening between forces/population that are pro-occupiers and that of against-occupiers.

Not all Sunni welcome the thought of Sharia rule where the state is run by the Imams hard core interpretations.

TUZ KHORMATO, Iraq - A suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives in the crowded outdoor market of a Shiite farm town on Saturday, killing more than 100 people and levelling houses and stores, police officials said.

The blast north of Baghdad, hours after a smaller suicide bombing in another Shiite village killed more than 20, suggested Sunni militants are regrouping to launch attacks in regions further away from the capital where security is thinner.

Saturday’s blast ripped through a market in Armili around 8:30 am, destroying old mud-brick houses and setting cars on fire. Farmers’ pickup trucks drove victims 30 miles to the nearest health facility, in Tuz Khormato.

Authorities and residents spent hours digging bodies out of the rubble of two dozen shops and houses, police said. Accounts of the final toll varied, hampered by the difficulty of the search and the farming town’s remote location.

but this suicide blast occured I think north of Baghdad where U.S. forces do not have a large presence...

Another thing is that it seems like alot of the suicide blasts are Sunni's attacking Shia's...You have to think that the Shia militas will extract revenge at some point...

Will this nightmare ( the suicide bombings, American troop deaths) ever end..:cry:
