Lieberman Campaign- Dean Is A Mad Cow
"What does he do now that he's being substantively challenged? He goes complaining to the party chairman that we're being mean to him," Lieberman said. "Well, I have some news for Howard Dean: The primary campaign is a warm-up compared to what George Bush and Karl Rove have for the nominee."

Craig Smith, Lieberman's campaign manager, said Dean's criticism "is like the mad cow calling the herd rabid."

"Howard Dean has spent the last year criticizing me and other candidates at every opportunity," said Gephardt, who is making his second bid for the White House. "Now, as he makes a series of embarrassing gaffes that underscore the fact he is not well-equipped to challenge George Bush, he suddenly wants to change the rules of the game."

Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts issued a statement saying Dean's comments lead him to wonder "if he's worried about our party's chances for victory or his own personal political future."

7. Dean is a Mad Cow?
:wtf:

Someone in the Lieberman campaign actually used those words? Kerry and Gephardt are throwing punches, and Dean has not exactly had the best week of his life or political career, but calling someone a mad cow during a potential catastrophe for the US is BAD. Lieberman should be made to apologize and drop out of the race. Lieberman used to be the kind of guy some people looked at as someone with character and integrity. They need to revise that opinion real quickly.

It is nice to be above this sordid fray. Wes Clark will have nothing to do with this.

God Bless Baby Wes!

11. no, no one actually said that
Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 08:27 PM by iverglas

I hold no brief for any candidate in this race. I just get irked by people (not the poster I'm responding to) who misrepresent what *anyone* says.

Lieberman's campaign manager said Dean's criticism "is like the mad cow calling the herd rabid."

This essentially amounts to saying IF the candidates for the Democratic nomination were a herd of rabid cattle, THEN Dean would be the mad cow calling the rest of them rabid. And that really, really is not the same thing as saying "Dean is a mad cow".

If I say to a poster that s/he is like the pot calling the kettle black, I am not calling the poster a pot. Right?

Similes, metaphors, analogies and all sorts of other rhetorical devices, folks. Everybody should learn to understand them (and/or practise not misrepresenting them).

10. FU Joe!
He sounds like he is going to go into attack mode on Dean. This will give the Republicans plenty of juicy sound bytes to use against Dean.

13. His true colors
have come out..Why would anyone bitch if Mrs Dean should win the role via her hubby, First Lady, just because she's Jewish, which I read on another thread..Notice they're not complaining about Hadassah..both of these people should sit in their rocking chairs and stay quiet! Now's the time for Lieb to withdraw instead of getting his panties in a wad!

14. Lieberman gave up trying to get press via Gore association
Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 08:47 PM by Woodstock
and now must resort to his only trick left, press by Dean association.

Either way, not a powerful message of his own.

I'd just love it if the candidates would FINALLY get the message that it's OK to promote themselves without denegrating others - in fact, we'd really love to hear it.

We've heard all the negative crap they've all had to dish out to each other (and that includes Dean) - so what say they all shake hands and start telling us why we should vote for them, instead of why we shouldn't vote for the other guy?

15. We are destroying ourselves
With all of the recent internecine attacks, I've lost a lot of faith we can win in November. There will be too much bad blood.

Someone restore my faith.

18. Newsflash: November 2004
Holy Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller joined by a flock of democrat drones in the Senate and House step up campaigning under the "Democrats for Bush" banner, because Howard Dean "just can't win".

I'm predicting it right now.

running on any issues? Or has his candidacy now been officially reduced to whining about the success of Howard Dean?
