The RSPCA, which has the Queen is its patron, has called for the Princess Royal to have her English bull terrier put down after it fatally savaged one of Her Majesty's corgis.
The Princess's dog, Dotty, attacked the corgi last week, breaking one of its legs in three places. The corgi, Pharos, had to be destroyed.
Now the RSPCA and several children's charities are asking Princess Anne to take action after a string of violent incidents involving the dog, including an attack on two children in Windsor Great Park last year for which the Princess was fined £500.
A spokesman for the RSPCA said: "Our philosophy is that we allow a dog one bite. This English bull terrier has already attacked two children and so is obviously a rogue dog. We think it would be better for it and safer for everyone else if the dog were put down.
