HEILIGENDAMM, Germany, June 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush was taken ill on the final day of a Group of Eight summit but his condition is not serious, a White House aide said on Friday.

White House counsellor Dan Bartlett said Bush had a stomach ailment which he described as "not serious". Bush hopes to return to meetings at the summit later in the day.

He said they were "not sure if it's something that he ate last night or this morning".

"The president right now is resting and is going to recuperate a bit and join the leaders on the remaining agenda today as quickly as possible," Bartlett told reporters.

Absolutely!

Remember when Reagan refused a Gorby invitation for a Moscow dinner with just the two of them and their wives?

That might have been a Nancy thing, but these guys can't handle actual people of 'class', as much as that term is subjective.

He can't always be reading from the cue cards. Sometimes it's just time for a break, I mean stomachache.

11. remember last year
when he had a bike accident? :eyes:

US leader crashed by trying to 'pedal, wave and speak at same time'
MURDO MACLEOD
POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT
HE MAY be the most powerful man in the world, but proof has emerged that President George Bush cannot ride a bike, wave and speak at the same time.

Scotland on Sunday has obtained remarkable details of one of the most memorably bizarre episodes of the Bush presidency: the day he crashed into a Scottish police constable while cycling in the grounds of Gleneagles Hotel.

The incident, which will do little to improve Bush's accident-prone reputation, began when he took to two wheels for a spot of early-evening exercise during last year's G8 summit at the Perthshire resort.

After a hard day's discussion with fellow world leaders, the president was looking for some relaxation. Instead, he ended up the subject of a police report in which the leader of the free world was described, in classic police language, as a "moving/falling object".

Look at his manner. The Whitehouse just lies and lies. God, how many more days do we have left before he comes home, 2 or 3 more? Perhaps the rest of his trip can be cancelled , because we must realize other world leaders talk when they go home. We will not be told, but on the world stage this seeps into the diplomatic side of things.

17. There's no such thing as "non-alcoholic" beer......
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 04:50 AM by ClintonTyree
There's trace amounts of alcohol in all "non-alcoholic" beer, which is why it's not good for a "dry drunk" like Bush (I'm betting a "wet drunk again?) to have anything like it. If he's truly abstaining from alcohol then he shouldn't "tease" himself with any alcohol substitutes. The stuff tastes like dishwater anyway, why would anyone WANT to drink it? :puke:

My money says Bush is back on the bottle and has been for years. I've suspected this ever since the pretzel incident. Georgie had a hangover, pure and simple. As obnoxious as he is when sober, when drunk he must be unbearable.

Bush's plans to visit Poland unchanged despite illness
13:16 | 08/ 06/ 2007

GDANSK, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. President George Bush, who felt unwell and abstained from the final events at the G8 summit in Germany's Heiligendamm Friday, will not cancel his visit to Poland later in the day, a Polish presidential spokesperson said.

Doctors diagnosed Bush with a stomach ailment Thursday night. The illness forced Bush to hold a meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in his private apartment Friday.

Elzbieta Jakubiak, head of the Polish presidential Cabinet, announced that during his working visit mid-Friday, Bush would hold negotiations with Polish President Lech Kaczynski in Jurata, the Polish presidential residence on the Baltic Sea coast.

The two leaders are expected to discuss general issues related to the deployment of elements of a U.S. missile shield in Poland.

24. Illness sidelines Bush at G8 Summit
Source: AP

HEILIGENDAMM, Germany (AP) -- President Bush came down with a stomach ailment Friday at the G-8 summit in Germany and is resting in his room.

"I'm not sure if it's a stomach virus yet or something like that," Dan Bartlett, counselor to the president told reporters. "He's just not feeling well in his stomach,"

Although ill, the president did meet for an hour with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, but the meeting took place in Bush's private room.

"The president felt that they established a real personal rapport," Bartlett said, adding that they discussed s myriad of issues, including Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, trade and missile defense.

41. Bush returns to the summit: "He feels terrible about any disruption he may have caused."
"He feels well enough to continue with his full activities," White House counselor Dan Bartlett told reporters. "He feels terrible about any disruption he may have caused."

Even while ill, Bush taped his radio address, met as planned with France's new president and prepared for talks in Poland on a missile defense system.

The president was already dressed when he began feeling ill in the morning, Bartlett said. The aide said Bush's illness was "probably more viral in nature" and did not appear to be the result of anything he ate at the summit of eight industrialized democracies being held at a luxury resort here.

Bush stayed in bed for several hours to rest and recuperate. He missed one session with African leaders and another with leaders from China, India, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa, all developing nations not G-8 members.

44. Bush stayed in bed for several hours, while a crack medical team loaded him with
electrolyte and vitamin restoring IV fluids.

He probably received more and better medical care during those hours than most American citizens receive in years. MKJ

43. After making everyone in the world sick to their stomachs,
Bush finally sickens himself. Very appropriate. Except it does't matter how much he pukes and shits--the damage he's done to the rest of the world far surpasses whatever virus he's picked up. Maybe it's the booze mixing with his meds.

My compassion gene appears to be on the blink today- guess it's because I keep thinking that this is poetic justice.

Note to recent college grads. When you call in sick complaining of "food poisoning," or "stomach flu," everybody knows that you're hung over.

49. What a bunch of liars.
Bartlett claims they were "not sure if it's something that he ate last night or this morning". I thought junior brought food tasters with him wherever he goes. Did they get sick, too? :eyes:

Maybe he needs to bring drink tasters from now on. Taste mah beer for me, will ya? Make shure is okay 'fore I drink some.

I hope his barfed all over himself. And shit himself too. :bounce:

58. WH: Bush Feeling Better After Stomach Ailment

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2007/06/wh_bush_feeling.html

ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: White House Counselor Dan Bartlett spoke to the pool reporters on the president's health, after Bush met French President Sarkozy earlier today in his private quarters due to a stomach ailment.

Bartlett said the White House doctor does not think Bush's illness was food-related. (First Lady Laura Bush didn't feel well a couple of days ago and it's possible the president contracted a similar bug.)

The president feels better and is "rejuvenated", Bartlett said. Bush will resume his schedule in Europe, visiting Poland and then Rome.

59. Oh, please
He probably just got bored and decided he'd blow off the meetings. His tiny little attention span is undoubtedly exhausted.

Seriously, though. I find it offensive that he guzzles this supposedly "non-alcoholic beer". Would any recovering alcoholic actually drink that stuff? Teasing oneself with that swill in an environment where the real alcohol is flowing freely just seems deranged, to me.
