Libya does not appear close to nuclear bomb: UN
The head of the United Nations' nuclear watchdog said on Saturday Libya, which this month opened its nuclear facilities to international inspection, did not appear to have been close to building an atomic bomb.

International Atomic Energy Agency director general Mohamed ElBaradei said Libya had not enriched any uranium - a step that, had it been taken, could have been interpreted as a first move to building a bomb.

"From the look of it, they were not close to a weapon, but we need to go and see it and discuss the details with them," he said in an interview with Reuters.

1. What Qhadufy indeed has or hasn't is of no consequence,
junior & Blair have disarmed Libya and are now hero's. The big oil companies are happy, and Libya can get the 2010 world match.

Who pays any attention to the International Atomic Energy Agency, let alone director general Mohamed ElBaradei?

2. Everybody knows that the oil leases where about to expire...
and Libya's chances of getting the 2010 World Cup are about as likely as my chances of hitting a homer in the 9th inning of a world series.

The UN statement helps to prove that the US and UK are just playing a shell game. And for what it's worth, those countries among us who don't have the ability to blow up the planet do pay attention to the UN.

3. Ha!
Robbstrodamus strikes again. I'll be doing readings in the lobby after the show, thanks for coming, and tip your bartender.

Mighty nice of them to throw open their doors... wonder if top aides had fooled Moammar into thinking he had nuclear weapons programs? :eyes:

4. But...but....there are other WMDs...surely...some...perhaps...anthrax?
Maybe a vial of smallpox somewhere? A nice chemical cocktail of sarin? Ricin? Some horror he can unleash in the NYC subway system on a jaunt to the Big Apple?

Surely there was some reason for Ghadaffy to make that grandiose statement, other than that they told him it was the only way to be forgiven?

...it's the Libyan SAND!! They plan to use giant remotely piloted drones to drop millions of tons of sand on our coastal cities on New Year's Eve!!

The horror!

Oh, the humanity!

12. So what do the dictators want now?
Do they want Empire protection, as per usual, now that their little postwar Islamicist gambit has made them expendable on all sides of the conflict?

After all, we(excuse me, oue glorious leaders) do share a common abhorrence of real democracy with the usual with the little guys like Khaddaffi.

15. Khadafi played for...a piece of the pie...
as do they all. No surprise.

From his perspective, it's an effective finesse.
