Qaeda Vows 'Back-Breaking' Strike, Magazine Says

DUBAI (Reuters) - A London-based Arab magazine said on Friday that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has vowed to launch a "back-breaking attack" on the United States by February, confirming an earlier message by the militant network.
The weekly al-Majalla said it received an e-mail from Abu Mohammed al-Ablaj, a little known al Qaeda member, saying bin Laden would release a video tape in which he affirms his group's determination to fight the United States.

"A messenger of bin Laden informed him (Ablaj) that the al Qaeda leader will appear on a televised tape after the execution of an operation which bin Laden described as back-breaking and which would change the order of things," al-Majalla said in a report in its latest edition, a copy of which was sent to Reuters.

In the e-mail, which could not be immediately authenticated, Ablaj echoed his previous statement carried by al-Majalla in November saying the attack would take place before a Muslim feast which is celebrated on the last days of January or the first days of February.

Well, the Saddam capture didn't quite have the effect desired, so it's time to roll out the Osama threat. And notice now that the threat isn't imminent as per the Orange Christmas alert, the France hijack plot was apparently another hoax, so our Team Paranoia needs to drag the fear out through February.

Information, misinformation, disinformation, they all work together. Who knows for sure what is coming from where?

Osama was the REAL problem from day one. Didn't the White House say a few months ago that Bin Laden wsn't a concern any longer...but Saddam was. Saddam didn't destroy the WTC, Bin Laden's people did. Bin Laden will not be persued by Bush because he is the son of the Bush friendly Bin Ladens of Saudi royalty. Even though they dis-own Osama, he stil is untouchable to Bush since he is Bin Laden "blood". The Royal Bin Ladens and the Bush family have done oil business in the past and are too close to each other for Bush to ever wipe out a member of that family. We're stuck with Osama until we have a President with less cronyistic ties to the middle east oil industry.

These announcements, if they are indeed announcements from al Qaeda, mean simply that they shot their wad already and have nothing left but big talk.

So they issue empty threats to scare the crap out of us.

For over two years they've been threatening, and we haven't seen squat from them. You almost start thinking al Jazeera is really on Ridge's payroll the way this has been working.

If there are credible reports of increased recruiting and fundraising and they shut up for a while, then I might worry about them.

We don't even know if they ever had anything planned for post 9-11. We haven't seen any real proof as of yet. There was an 8 year span between the two attempts at taking down the WTC towers. Hell, they might do nothing but TALK for the rest of this decade for all we know.
