Judge blocks medi-cal(ifornia) cut backs
Welcome to politics Arny! Way to terminate, you idiot!..... Atleast the state's poorest Medi-cal recipients get a little Xmas gift as the courts rule against benefit cuts.... Our action hero once again gets his nose tweaked by reality!...

1. as much as i detest Arnie,
the article implies that the cut was passed under Davis's watch, and that Davis had proposed that the cut be much deeper.

``The cut, scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, was expected to save the state $245 million in the first six months of 2004. It was passed earlier this year by the Legislature as one way to address California's unprecedented budget deficit. ...
California's planned reduction in provider payments was a legislative compromise of former Gov. Gray Davis' proposed 15 percent cut.''

2. yep, part of the insanity we call the budget debate here in CA.
the proposed 15% cut was "compromised" to 5% so every faction in Sacto could claim a budget victory (except MediCal beneficiaries, of course).

Cuts were billed as, tough but necessary in light of the state deficit.

Arnold, btw, has proposed a 10% further cut in 04-05.

3. How about his after school programs?
He campaigned on being a champion of education and touted how he truly cared about kids as demonstrated by the success of his educational programs above those offered by public schools. Like Bush, he only cared about kids while campaigning, the heck with them afterwards. I may be one of the few but I think his wife should be excommunicated from the democratic party, for her support to such a liar. I realize there is no excommunication process but as far as I am concerned, Maria is no democrat but tried to sway democrats to her husband who could care less about the average worker or or the worker's kids. He is a elitist every bit as much as Bush is, and Maria is a traitor.
