Misuse of Gov.'s Role Alleged (Schwarzenegger)
Misuse of Gov.'s Role Alleged

State legislative analyst says Schwarzenegger overstepped his authority in ordering the release of money to local governments.

California's nonpartisan legislative analyst advised lawmakers this week that (Nazi) Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger overstepped his authority when he ordered that cities and counties be immediately repaid billions of dollars lost when he cut the vehicle license fee.

1. I'm shocked, I tell you! Shocked!
The advisors (to Gov. S, R-Nazi) elected by the people of California should be held accountable for this, shouldn't they?

6. Hey! Not all of us were duped!
Some of us worked very very hard to keep Ahnuld out of office, but to no avail.....

Took all the energy out of me for weeks afterwards to have to face the realization that we failed to rally enough people to not vote for this fool.

to talk into a hurricane to stop the recall of Davis. Can you believe a friend of mine registered to vote for the 1st time ever, just to vote for AAAAAAAAhnuld! My god!

7. here ya go
The opinion from Legislative Analyst Elizabeth G. Hill, whom lawmakers of both parties look to for impartial advice on the budget, comes with Schwarzenegger in the midst of another unilateral action — this one involving welfare cost-of-living increases. Both moves threaten to set up a confrontation in the Capitol and possibly in the courts over just how much power he has over state finances.

Upon taking office last month, Schwarzenegger revoked a $4-billion annual increase in the so-called car tax, which former Gov. Gray Davis had raised to help balance the state budget.

snip
Her declaration comes with the governor involved in another end-run around the Legislature: He is refusing to give welfare recipients a cost-of-living increase that his own administration earlier had acknowledged was owed under 1998 legislation that established conditions for reducing or raising the car tax. That law specified that if the tax was reduced, welfare recipients would get a cost-of-living increase

9. So lie to the website.
Screws up their stats. I do it ALL the time, on every site that asks for personal information.

Maybe if more people publicly lied to the websites asking for such information, they would stop asking for it, as their stats would be completely unreliable.

For sure... Tell them you are 99 years old or 15. Tell them you are a female if male and male if female. Give them a different zip code.

If they don't do an email verification then make up the email. I like using something like bush@sucks.com or worse. If it is a repug site then I check out their email address and use it so that it might plug up their inbox.

make some up and give them a hotmail addy. You should never give your real information over the internet, with the exception if you are purchasing something and real info is needed.

5. I read this with interest. Apparently there is a twist to the "car tax"
issue in that if one reduces the car tax then welfare recipients must get a cost of living increase. I was not aware of this clause on the law. This clause BTW also seems to clearly imply that if the car tax is reduced, it is because the budget is in good shape...certainly a challenge that could be taken to state courts.

A belated welcome to DU to you, Lori...I clicked on your CLG site...very interesting.

BTW, when posting articles to sites like the LA TIMES, you may wish to note that free registration is required.

13. The LA Time really used the term "Nazi" to describe the Gov?
When did the LA Time start using Nazi to talk about Arnold? I can't get to the article due to them wanting a spam signup.

15. No, I added it as an editorial comment, in parenthesis.
I added the term "Nazi" in parenthesis (to show it was not part of their column)due to Schwarzenegger's family ties to the SS, his personal declarations of admiration to Hitler, and his toasting a banned Nazi war criminal the day of his wedding.

I added the term for fellow DUers to enjoy, as many DUers share my sentiment.

21. Nazi is too big a label to toss about lightly
Millions of jews were murdered and abused by Nazis. This kind of usage of the label is demeaning to the Jewish and others that suffered in reality under their reign.

22. Arnold is a neo-Nazi
And using the label is not demeaning, it's just a fact. If one can't call the perpetrators and supporters of the holocaust and the global expansion of fascism Nazis, one demeans the memories of those who died at their hands by refusing to recognize that the perptrators and their supporters are still here in the world today.

And noting that Arnold Schwartzenegger, a Hitler admirer and literally the son of a Nazi, is a Nazi, is not even a tiny stretch.

I wonder what will be California's Reichstag?

25. Exactamundo!
Well-stated, Cronus!

Also, Schwarzenegger seems to be obsessed w. Homeland Security. I am thinking, Bush will carry out his next attack via a West Coast port, through Carlyle Group owned CSX transport. Then, Schwarzenegger can get heaps of praise (and money) from Bush, and work toward stealing the 54 electoral votes in coup 2004.

Edited on Wed Dec-24-03 02:12 PM by truthseeker1
because Saddam will tip them off while under interrogation/negotiation. And that will seal the deal on the justification for the invasion. They will finally have their link from Saddam to terrorism.

Sorry, don't mean to change the subject!

24. What more evidence do you need?
If Republicans can call Clintons, albeit mistakingly, "congenital liars," why can't we call Schwarze-Nazi a congenital Nazi? His father helped to kill Jews. Furthermore, he himself admitted to admiring Hitler. What more evidence do you need, a Swastika in his dresser drawers?

14. I don't know about California but in my state the Legislature controls
the purse strings. The Governor makes suggestions but can't spend a dime without legislative approval. The same thing is true for the Federal Government. Congress controls the purse strings although bush* is given a discretionary fund to spend as he sees fit

30. As it does in ours...with a few exceptions for EO's for emergencies
Arnold is misusing it since he has no experience and therefore claims he is sidetracking the legislature and the law in order to "give the public what they want" The public apparently wants a lawless dictator.
