MND-B SECURITY PATROL RECEIVES SMALL ARMS FIRE

Description:
BAGHDAD – While conducting combat security operations in a
southern section of the capital, a Multi-National Division – Baghdad
patrol was attacked with small arms fire, killing one Soldier May 10.

In recent weeks, Coalition Forces have been conducting operations
in this section of the city uncovering numerous weapons caches,
including improvised explosive device-making materials and detaining
several individuals, disrupting insurgent activity and providing a
more secure environment for Iraqi citizens.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification
of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

Description:
BAGHDAD – An MNC-I Soldier was severely wounded by small arms
fire at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday in Diwaniyah. The Soldier
was evacuated for treatment at the Coalition hospital in Baghdad
but later died of his wounds.

The name of the Soldier is being withheld pending notification of
next of kin and release from the Department of Defense.

May 11 (Reuters) - One U.S. soldier was killed and nine were wounded by an explosion on Thursday during combat operations in Diyala province, north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Friday.
