U.S. soldier filmed scene after Iraq killing

ROME (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier who fatally shot an Italian
intelligence agent at an Iraqi checkpoint two years ago filmed
the scene moments after firing, an Italian television channel
said, showing footage from his video.

The hazy footage showed a white car with bright headlights
stopped at the side of a road with an open door, while voices
of U.S. soldiers could be heard in the background.

The lawyer for the U.S. soldier who fired on the car, Mario
Lozano, told ANSA news agency that Lozano himself delivered
the video to Italy's TG5 channel. Italian prosecutors
investigating the case immediately seized the tape, judicial
sources said.

The video comes after Lozano went on trial in absentia in
Italy last month for firing at the car carrying agent Nicola
Calipari and newly freed Italian hostage Giuliana Sgrena to
Baghdad airport in March 2005.

1. kill someone, and film it... for a souvenier I presume...
"Furthermore, the video shows that Lozano, contrary to what he has maintained in recent interviews, was not shocked after the firing, but in fact had the icy coldness to film Calipari's dead body," she told ANSA.

5. My thought was perhaps the video was proof
to show someone what he had done, a mission accomplished perhaps.

2. "Sgrena said it confirmed her version of the events"
Was there ever really any doubt?

4. There's plenty of doubt.
I don't understand how this confirms Sgrena's account.

8. After these many years, and lies, you are still believing the official Pentagon version?
Some idiots believe in Bush and in the Rapture.

10. It shows how Lozano
wasn't suprised at all by who he found in the car.

3. Sending our kids on an illegal, immoral mission leaves them with a stark choice
reject the war and suffer the consequences professionally and personally, at your own peril, or....

embrace the lie, turn off your heart and head, and become a brown shirt.

This guy chose the latter. Too many of our kids are too.

This war will be a stain on our conscience and our hands in the very same way Vietnam was and is. What a shame we have not learned a damn thing.

Deadly fallout from generations of hubris.

6. That was cold blooded murder by the USA. I am sure that it was
ordered. Sgrena was of course the target. He needs to spend a lot of time in the brig along with Rummy and Cheney and "dope" brain.
