Sgt. William J. Callahan will never get to hold his baby boy.

The 28-year-old Marine, a former Rockland resident and Whitman-Hanson Regional High School graduate, was killed in combat in Iraq on Friday.

Callahan, a 1997 graduate of Whitman-Hanson, joined the Marines in 2002 and trained as an ordnance disposal technician. He lived most recently in South Easton.

This was a very good friend of my brother in law.. his wife has been a family friend since the mid 1980's. I can't believe this has hit so close to home.

4. thanks for posting
IIRC, we were speaking about this family the other day. Saying prayers, lighting candles and feeling helpless to let this family know how much I feel for them. :(

6. Thank you for telling us about Billy and his family.
I see he joined in '02, like so many brave and patriotic young people did.
God bless his wife, child, family, and friends.

I wish there were something I could say to make this easier. There isn't.
