Bush adviser Rove cancels speaking trip to Evansville
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — White House political adviser Karl Rove called off his trip to speak at a Vanderburgh County Republican Party event just hours before the dinner.

Rove had been scheduled as the keynote speaker for Thursday night's Lincoln Day Dinner, but was replaced by national Republican Chairman Mike Duncan.

County GOP Chairman Nicholas Hermann said that Rove's "White House responsibilities will preclude him from traveling to Evansville for this event."

Tickets for the dinner cost $100 per person. Tickets that included reception before the dinner cost $250.

4. Maybe he heard there'd be protestors? Maybe he thought Sheryl
Crow and Laurie David were in town?

Chickenshit. Soon he won't be able to show his face outside an orchestrated event on some tarmac somewhere.

7. Evansville lies in one of the "Top Offensive" districts on Rove's list
of Congressional districts to target/help that his aide Jennings distribute to a myriad of Fed agencies (the Hatch Act violations scandal). The former dem sheriff just beat repub incumbent John Hostettler. Things must be getting very hot for Rove to cancel.

10. That's my thought
Rove has been everywhere for fundraisers among the faithful. Heck, he was even in Tigard, Oregon last week (and met by a bunch of protesters). If Karl can't bring in the filthy lucre from the fatcats, it's just possible that Bush will re-evaluate Rove's continuing usefulness.

17. Indeed!?
By Jove, you have a most intriguing point there! I guess maybe things must truly be getting very hot there for him to cancel. If so, that's a VERY good sign!

12. ....and rewriting new ones....
Dear ____,
as I told you in my previous deleted email, we are very happy to be doing everything legally, as in the past....we ALWAYS do everything legally, dontcha know?

we send our most gracious thanks to Senators Lahey and Waxman
for giving us this chance to clear the air behind closed doors and without a transcript, as the American people are not interested in this. As you know, though I am terribly sorry our previous emails about the Attorneys Firings got deleted but I don't recall them being especially political, though I wouldn't know, because as you know, I don't recall being involved in all that.

if there is anything you do not wish to recall, I encourage you to do so and get back to me on this so I can forget it all again.

xxoo
Karl

13. Okay explain to me again why he is on the payroll?
Is there some policy thing that he does that no one has ever made apparent?

14. I doubt it. The RNC should be paying him, not the US taxpayer
Then again, according to DiIulio, there IS no policy apparatus in the Whitehouse. It's ALL politics ALL the time
"There is no precedent in any modern White House for what is going on in this one: a complete lack of a policy apparatus... What you've got is everything -- and I mean everything -- being run by the political arm. It's the reign of the Mayberry Machiavellis."

-John J DiIulio, former head of Bush's faith-based policy office, Jan 2003

They don't know the difference between policy and politics. They think they can "make their own reality" with Rovian smoke and mirrors and political thuggery, and most of the time it works, then along comes an "insurgency", or a hurricane, and their reality starts to look pretty shabby.

Remember when Bush put Rove in charge of the Katrina recovery effort?

15. The DiIulio letter was very telling
Suskind has been a view into the inner workings of this misadministration that Woodward only dreams of standing next to. From this to the the O'Neill book to "One Percent Doctrine" the picture is very clear.

Yes I remember when they said Rove would runs the NO project. I haven't heard since then if he is off it or if, as it looks, they just completely dropped the whole thing. THEY don't vote for them anyway.

16. Maybe people are complaining that he doesn't rate secret service protection
I suppose people didn't pay attention to it, but a lot of them are now asking how come he has a secret service group following him....If you read those eligible he dont' RATE....how come he has a secret service group with him.

20. Tobias was from Indiana
There was more than likely some linkage between Rove and Tobias.

And maybe things are getting REAL bad at Camp David this weekend and they are circling the wagons.
