ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, is not one to kick a man when he's down. The congressman and long shot presidential candidate canceled a scheduled press conference Tuesday morning during which he was to call for Vice President Cheney's impeachment.

When the Vice President was rushed to the doctor to examine a blood clot in his leg, Kucinich canceled the event and released the following statement: "News reports this morning indicate the Vice President was experiencing a medical crisis. Until the Vice President's condition is clarified, I am placing any action on hold."

The Vice President returned to work immediately after the doctor's exam. No word yet on when, or if, the Congressman will reschedule the impeachment announcement.

1. Well, this proves it. Cheney's little trip set up a win in his column.
This is disgusting. Does anyone actually believe Cheney would do this for Kucinich? Come on.

2. Maybe not.
Bush's speech was going to steal the airwaves at about the same time, and Cheney's checkup was dominating the morning news (for some reason). Perhaps he'll get more exposure by not doing it today.

3. I'm disappointed, but it's understandable.
Don't let it be washed out of the news cycle. The corporate media will do their best to bury it, as they are instructed to do.

4. OK...I don't totally disagree but
obviously, the administration could continue to muddy the waters everytime Kucinich wants to bring it up......this is way behind schedule to begin with. imho

6. Memo to Dennis Kucinich
So...Cheney committed high crimes and/or misdemeanors and should be removed from office, but he's having a painless, noninvasive diagnostic test this morning, so we'll impeach him after he's had time to wipe the gel off with a nice soft towel? Miss Manners would approve.

Memo to Dennis Kucinich: send a "Get Well" card to Cheney's leg and impeach the rest of his deceitful carcass.

38. One minor correction
The pressure needed to do a good ultrasound on a leg suspected of a DVT can be pretty painful.

I hope the tech pressed extra-hard.

14. Mr. Kucinich does it matter if cheney is having a medical
crisis? Medical is different from criminal. You were not withholding medical from cheney the way he does the soldiers. You were giving him legal information about why he should not be working as a vp.

angers me. "Sorry about your medical condition but we've waited too long now to impeach you" and couldn't it be this was a scheduled follow up visit and it just worked out to come at an advantageous time? Hopefully, Kucinich will do this tomorrow or Thursday.

edit:clarity

16. I agree
he'll resign to due medical reasons. Maybe he'll move to Dubai to escape justice? I have confusion, though, as to how a VP will then be selected/chosen. No hearings? Can bush pick anyone he wants?

I guess it was just a "quick trip" scheduled to head of Kucinich at the pass.

It's what they always do.

28. Nah, you are all giving Kucinich too hard a time here
He's playing chicken with the chickenhawk. If he went ahead with the conference, Cheney would wait to see how it would go before his doctor announced whether he was "ok" or not, giving him a medical "out" if the impeachment thing took off, and giving him a clean bill of health if it didn't.

By waiting, Kucinich forces Cheney to decide whether to stay or go first.
