Spokeswoman: Limbaugh lawyer discussing plea bargain (CNN)
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/12/22/limbaugh.hearing/

Bellows said Limbaugh, who recently completed treatment for addiction to prescription painkillers, recognizes that he may have purchased drugs illegally under Florida law and "certainly had more pills than he could ever use."

My, my, my...the worm is turning. Whatever happened to that "rugged individualism" that Limpballs was always talking about.

Get some popcorn folks. Watching this evil man twist in the wind is going to be rather enjoyable.

"He wants this thing to go away," she said. "He won't admit to anything he didn't do."
------------------

Well, yeah. Wouldn't anyone in this situation want "this thing to go away"?

Rush will "settle" with law enforcement and we will never hear any more about it until the next time he is caught.

7. Unfortunately, I predict
this will never see the light of day in a courtroom. At most he'll saunter in for a plea of guilty to some lesser-included offense and all he'll have to say is "guilty" when the judge asks him "how do you plead."

3. MAY have purchased drugs illegaly?
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 05:15 PM by Cannikin
It aint like they just fell in his purse. Oops! Did I do that?

Did you hear him today? WAY off his game. He fumbled with his words all afternoon. I figured either he was using again or something wasnt going well for him in court. I dont think the judge bought the 'But, I'm better than they are' defense. He was probably watching the networks instead of paying attention to the callers (who were the intelligent ones today)...

Prosecutor has discression to charge whatever he want to charge unfortunately.

I'd love to see his fat ass in prison. I just have a feeling it's not gonna happen.

The only guarantee here is that if they don't make Rush face real consequences of all this somehow, his addiction will continue and this will not be the end of this story.

If they let him off, we'll still have our day for justice. He'll then have a record, and they will have to give hime prison time.

Justice is coming. It just may not be right now.

28. Could there be ANOTHER reason why Rush is trying to hide his records?
For example, just how sure are we that Rush has a back injury (or whatever he says it was)? Because he says so? Is there any independant source of information that shows that Rush became addicted as a result of an injury?

22. More to that story:
the cnn story also says that Limbo says he was being extorted, but couldn't do anything becuase he would be targeted himself.

jeez, he's got a mess on his hands. Hee Hee.

"...attorney Roy Black said Limbaugh paid "extreme amounts of money" to Wilma Cline, his former housekeeper, and her husband, first for pills and then for extortion. Black alleged that the Clines had threatened to go public with information about Limbaugh's drug use unless they received $4 million. "

"Black said Limbaugh wanted to contact the FBI, but was told by an unidentified friend that if he went to the authorities, they would target him, and his political enemies would use the information against him. "

would believe that sad attempt at an excuse. Limbaugh afraid of his political enemies? Since when? Can they use things he's said on the air as evidence? There should be hours of Rush going on about how superior he feels to his enemies. In any case, the extortion wouldnt have happened if he didnt have something he needed to hide. He really should put his money where his mouth is and face up to it.

That's what I say. And I'm sure Rush would want nothing less than incarceration for an evil drug user like himself, based on his previous comments about what should be done to drug users.

Not to mention, Rush says no to affirmative action, so I'm certain that he will want to be treated no differently than a no-name black man would be in a similar situation.

You know, where I'm from, that will get you charged with TRAFFICKING, not possession.

They don't need to actually catch you selling it to charge you with selling it. Hell, I've known of cases where people were caught with a bunch of empty baggies, a scale, and very little actual pot and were still charged with trafficking, even though there was no 'sting' involving a sale.

If you are caught with 'more drugs than you can possibly consume', then they automatically charge you with trafficking in them everywhere I've seen.

If he wasn't taking them, I'm sure he was selling them.

49. Limbaugh's way out: a Bush pardon
If American law spins so improbably out of control as to convict a white right wing millionaire hero of the NASCAR unwashed, then we can be sure that Bush, who has God's ear, will wave his magic pardon wand and make the conviction go away.

And there will be much rejoicing in Wal-Martland.
