McCain Sings: 'Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran'
Source: The Drudge Report

The GEORGETOWN TIMES reports:

At the campaign rally, McCain was asked if an attack on Iran is in the works.

McCain began his answer by changing the words to a popular Beach Boys song.

“Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran,” he sang to the tune of Barbara Ann.

McCain visits Murrells Inlet

By Scott Harper, sharper@gtowntimes.com April 19, 2007

~snip~
Another man — wondering if an attack on Iran is in the works — wanted to know when America is going to “send an air mail message to Tehran.”
McCain began his answer by changing the words to a popular Beach Boys song.
“Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran,” he sang to the tune of Barbara Ann. “Iran is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. That alone should concern us but now they are trying for nuclear capabilities. I totally support the President when he says we will not allow Iran to destroy Israel.”
He stopped short of answering the actual question and did not say if he supports an invasion of Iran.
A woman in the audience said she has been disappointed President Bush has not spent more time addressing the American people about the issues. She asked McCain if he would be more accessible.
“If I am elected I will go on TV every two weeks, even if it’s only carried by C-SPAN, and detail what is going on in Iraq and with other issues,” he said.
One man then asked if McCain is elected, will he try to get Don Imus back on the radio.
“I knew I should have ended this before now,” McCain joked.
He never said if he felt CBS Radio did the right thing by firing the talk show host for making racist and sexist remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. After the controversy erupted McCain had said he would still be a guest on the show if invited.
“What he did was unacceptable and despicable but I believe in redemption,” he said.

29. I wish we could. I made a most distressing discovery a few years ago
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 11:08 AM by calimary
when I was going to be a guest on a local TV news show. I was hanging around in the newsroom (a BIG local newsroom here in L.A. - KNBC, Channel 4) waiting to set up for my segment. I happened to stroll around the room there to see if there was anybody I recognized from an earlier job in the same building. MANY of the monitors on people's workstations had drudge on them. These were writers and editors and researchers. If THEY read drudge (and that's not just local NBC people, either), you know that shit is seeping into the mindsets of most of the information brokers to the American public.

As I said, MOST distressing.

I had a friend on the radio at ABC once who said, flat-out to my face, "hey, I don't have a problem with putting rumors on the air." Shortly after he made a smart remark about the Air Florida plane crash on the air, he was fired. I thought that would be the end of it, because he was just one guy. Evidently, thanks to people like drudge, it's the rule now.

:(

10. McCain is evidently pandering to a demographic that won't see what
all the fuss is about, a voting block that considers anyone in the Middle East to be "A-rab terrorists." Nevermind that Iran is a complex, beautifully ancient country with HUMAN BEINGS in it.

A witty ditty doesn't a foreign policy make. McCain should apologize.

24. I really am starting to wonder....
Perhaps McCain has Dementia or Alzheimer's and just hasn't been diagnosed. I've experienced close family with Dementia in the early stages weird things happen and weirder things get said. After all it was only a few years ago he actually seemed to be sort of on the ball and lately he just seems to be descending into oblivion.

Hard to believe but here's the article that has the quote...

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18230309&BRD=2081&PAG=461&dept_id=385210&rfi=6

It would be rather scary if by some strange twist of fate he wound up being president after Bush... we'd be trading one loon for another.

35. Welcome to DU! Yeah, no kidding. We were talking about that just
a few minutes ago here. My husband just shook his head in disgust. "An 80-year-old man trying to act like a buckaroo..." I, too, think mccain's glory days are fading farther and farther behind him. He should have quit while he was ahead. He'd be respected far more and he'd like the looks of his legacy much more, also.

Unfortunately, there will be plenty of yahoos who WILL find this just ever-so-funny and just-completely-adorable. But he's going down. He's farther down the totem pole than he probably wants to believe in terms of following and funding. He is probably finished, career-wise. I'd be surprised if he lasted beyond this term in the Senate. His only hope is if cheney's IMPEACHED AND REMOVED, and bush somehow thinks it'd be some sort of shrewd strategery to appoint him as VP. Might be a clever move to somehow endow mccain with "incumbent" status-once-removed like that, especially as a reward for being such a toady on the last presidential campaign. But I doubt they'd do that. No way they'd want to take another republi-CON out of the Senate. Besides, that would make their good pal lieberman a non-issue and turn an ally into a eunuch. Fun to think about, though.
