Quayle family sells Indiana newspaper
Source: Indianapolis Star

HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- The family of former Vice President Dan Quayle has sold its newspaper holdings to Paxton Media Group, ending more than 70 years of ownership of the northeastern Indiana daily.

/snip/

The late James C. Quayle, father of Dan Quayle, purchased The Herald-Press in 1964. It had been part of Indianapolis-based Central Newspapers, owned by James Quayle's father-in-law, Eugene C. Pulliam, for 34 years.

Dan Quayle, who was vice president from 1989-93 under George H.W. Bush, once worked at the newspaper. He and his wife, Marilyn, once operated their Quayle & Quayle law office from the second floor of the newspaper building. The couple now lives in Arizona.

Dan Quayle believed in small town values but Huntington was too small for him after a term as Vice President.

3. My old home town
I went to school in Huntington- I was in the first graduating class in the then-brand new high school-Huntington North High (Class of '73).

Danny Quayle supposedly came to our house once with my big brother. I don't recall the incident. Thank God.

Perhaps they'll leave the town in peace at last.
