Wolfowitz Dictated Girlfriend's Pay Deal
Source: Washington Post

World Bank President Paul D. Wolfowitz personally dictated the terms under which the bank gave what it called his "domestic partner" substantial pay raises and promotions in exchange for temporarily leaving her job there during his tenure, according to documents released by the bank's executive board yesterday.

The board issued a statement saying it will "move expeditiously to reach a conclusion on possible actions to take," amid rising speculation over whether the embattled Wolfowitz will resign or be asked to step down. Board deliberations over his future were suspended yesterday morning as the bank began its spring meeting, an annual rite attended by finance ministers and central bank presidents, and one now being overtaken by the controversy surrounding Wolfowitz.

As if that weren't enough... the girlfriend was set up to run what seems to be a faux foundation at US taxpayer expense:

"The woman at the center of the storm surrounding World Bank President Paul D. Wolfowitz has spent the past few months trying to get one of the signature efforts of President Bush's Middle East democracy campaign off the ground.

The Foundation for the Future, as the effort is called, has made no grants and held only two board meetings since its creation 1 1/2 years ago. Though Shaha Riza, who has been romantically linked to Wolfowitz, is not listed as part of the staff on the organization's Web site, she is the only person working in the group's offices, located within the Henry L. Stimson Center, a think tank. The Washington office is listed as a "branch," according to the site, which promises that soon a main office will be established in Beirut..."

1. A fake foundation to get democracy off the ground!!!
And who's linked to that? Karen Hughes, Condi Rice, Elisabeth Cheney? Just gets better and better!!

So his fake foundation was diverting resources from the War on Terror! We know this because this would surely be one of the areas to be coordinated under the new "War Czar" so just because it's not the Pentagon doesn't mean it's not part of the War.

2. Hey, I'm not worried. Not 2 months ago David Gergen said the Bush
administration has been "relatively scandal-free."

The problem is with the liberal media distorting everything they way they always do.

Wolfowitz must decide on credibility--German minister

WASHINGTON, April 14 (Reuters) - World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz must decide whether he still has the credibility to head the institution, following controversy over his handling of a promotion for his girlfriend, a top German official said on Saturday.

"For me the most important thing is that the moral authority and the financial stability of the World Bank must not be harmed," German development minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul told Reuters.

"He himself has to decide whether he still has the credibility to represent the position of the World Bank," she said.

They're merely hapless victims of love, living in a world of fools who just won't let them be:

The Bee Gees:

How deep is your love
I really need to learn
cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

9. Someone subpoena her dresses.
At least Monica did it for love. Wolfowitz had to pay for it. Hard to see why.

12. Germany and the U.K. have yanked their support, too.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=azArNTu_2_Nc&refer=home

"April 14 (Bloomberg) -- World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz's hold on his job weakened as the U.K. and Germany declined to join the U.S. in backing him."

This is almost certainly a fluff-story sitting on top of the real story. There is at least two trillion dollars (note the date Don Rumsfeld announced that) missing from the DoD coffers and Wolfowitz didn't have a lick of experience when he got his job as World Bank President. Instead what he did was bring in a bunch of his buddies in with him to do the heavy lifting.

I think he's been doing the laundry.
