DAMMIT. WHY did you waste our time if you weren't gonna run, John!

He could have given Jindal a run for his money. Now we get to watch Mitch Landrieu spew meaningless platitudes while Jindal mops the floor with him. Mitch couldn't be Ray Nagin for mayor of New Orleans. He doesn't have a prayer against a popular Republican.

Ugh!

1. We could balance this potential loss with a gain in Kentucky.

4. To my knowledge, Kentucky is not rebuilding from a major hurricane
although, if we let global warming go on unchecked, maybe someday...

You can well imagine how easy it would be for Jindal or any other repuke to sell the state, and New Orleans in particular, to the highest bidder. :scared:

8. LA. has lots of rednecks
I realize they vote repuke but they are really racist. They may not vote for Jindal. I see right through Jindal. Hes intelligent but he is full on religious repuke. Louisiana has enough problems without having religion based bad policy. Plus he'll just go along with the facists in Washington. I hate saying this but i'm counting on redneck racism this time.

3. John Breaux will not run for governor
Former U.S. Sen. John Breaux says he will not be a candicate for governor in Louisiana.

Earlier today, Attorney General Charles Foti refused to issue a legal opinion on whether Breaux would be eligible to run, if he were to enter the race.

Breaux has widely been considered a democratic front-runner in the race since Governor Kathleen Blanco decided she would not seek reelection.

Many have questioned whether Breaux would be eligible to run because he currently lives and is registered to vote in Maryland. Breaux still owns land in south Louisiana.

5. Thanks for nothing, Foti!
You were a fuckmook when you were criminal sheriff of Orleans Parish, and you're a fuckmook now. Your cowardice in not rendering the opinion has basically handed what's left of the state over to that slimy little weasel Jindal.

How is NOLA supposed to recover with both the Federal AND state governments actively working against it?!

6. Is there ANYONE who could compete?
Never heard that word before, but I think I know what you mean. IS there anyone who could get even a close showing?

7. It's a NOLA blog word, and Chris John seems to be the last best hope
as a matter of fact, blogger Ashley Morris, who is now one of my all-too-few personal acquaintances in the city, registered

to point to his attitude-filled blog. Note that someone with the decidedly non-Creole name of "KamaAina" has been leaving comments.

I shall PM you presently regarding an unrelated matter...

9. sorry to hear it, he would have had my vote
i don't think breaux deliberately wasted anyone's time but if he couldn't get a clearcut ruling on residency what more he could do? i suppose if he were GOP he'd just lie about his residency a la dick cheney but our side tries to play by the rules

i hate to say it but i've given up all hope for the future and just want to reside elsewhere myself if i can manage it before i die

but there is still time to build up buzz for another candidate, no use looking back, we must look forward

10. Even buzz to give us at least one more term before the GOP...
captures the state entirely. Also, another term for Mary Landrieu too.
