Waxman wants answers on White House contract with MZM

NORTH COUNTY -- The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is pushing the Bush administration for records of its dealings with a company and two people linked to former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham.

U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles, said Wednesday that his office has yet to receive the information he had asked for in a March 26 request to White House officials.

Waxman wants documents and information regarding contracts between the White House and Washington defense contractor MZM Inc. and any of its subsidiaries or subcontractors. The March letter also asked for any documents showing communication between the White House and Poway defense contractor Brent Wilkes or MZM founder Mitchell Wade. Waxman had asked that the documents be produced no later than April 6.

"The White House response is clearly not adequate at this point," Waxman said in a written response to questions from the North County Times.

On Friday, the White House gave its initial response to Waxman's March request, with President Bush's special counsel Emmet T. Flood saying there would be a delay.

1. This is mother of all corruption investigations.
This tears into the heart of the Republican Organized Crime Syndicate. There appears to be a 10 dimensional game of chess underway and I can see about 50 different checkmates on the horizon for this administration. I get this feeling we are seeing the end game now....it going to be a spectacular flame out.

6. I'd have to link to 4-1/2 years of articles on DU....

I realized about 3 years ago that this was a new Republican Party we were dealing with. Seriously, this is a thoroughly corrupted crime organization that masquerades as a political party.

The best place to start if you want to know what MZM is all about (short version - MZM is a "virtual" company put together to deliver taxpayer $ through awarded no-bid contracts. The money is laundered back to the RNC via fundraising for more electioneering.) TalkingPointsMemo.com has got a great archive of the subject of Wilkes, Mitchell, and MZM. Also Joe Cannon at Cannonfire did some great articles on the webring of bogus companies under the MZM umbrella. That's why Lam was fired...she had her sights on Jerry Lewis, former head of Appropriations Committee, Rep John Doolittle, maybe Duncan Hunter. It's the Holy Grail of the RNC crime story.

8. WH strategist, October, '06: "A cataclysmic fight to the death..." against Democrats
Like the way you turn a phrase, Old and In the Way. Remember this little gem?

The President's team has been planning for what one strategist describes as "a cataclysmic fight to the death" over the balance between Congress and the White House if confronted with congressional subpoenas it deems inappropriate. The strategist says the Bush team is "going to assert that power, and they're going to fight it all the way to the Supreme Court on every issue, every time, no compromise, no discussion, no negotiation."

10. Another GOP success story. Went from $0 in 2001 to $43 Million of your tax $$$
in 2003. War and spying on US has been very, very good bidness. But is all very, very secret. You don't have the right to know what they're doing. National Security and all.
