Jail for Srebrenica murderers
Source: al Jazeera

Four former members of Serbia's "Scorpions" paramilitary forces have been jailed for up to 20 years after they were filmed taking part in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.

Serbia's war crimes court found the men guilty of killing six people during the massacre in which 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were killed.

Gordana Bozilovic-Petrovic, the judge in the first case in Serbia to deal with the Srebrenica massacre, said the four paramilitaries were guilty of a war crime against a civilian population.

Slobodan Medic, the former commander of the Scorpions unit and Branislav Medic received the longest sentences of 20 years.

1. Man, 20 years must seem like a slap in the face
to the families of the victims.I realize that they were only proven to have taken part in the death of these 6 young men, and I'm trying not to judge the actual judgment. But if I was the mother of that 17 year old boy (or any of the 8000 who were massacred, for that matter), I would want the sentence to be the original, asked for 40 years (meaning they would likely never get out of prison).

What tragic history the Balkans has!

3. Oh, I agree wholeheartedly!
That's why I was trying not to judge the judgment. I'm sure that the judge did the best he could under the circumstances. I just feel for all the victims of the Balkans Wars, and their families.
