TRENTON, N.J. (Associated Press) -- Gov. Jon S. Corzine has asked his ethics advisers to review whether recent contract negotiations with state workers were tainted by his prior romantic relationship with the leader of a state workers union.
Corzine has repeatedly denied that the relationship _ which involved his giving Carla Katz $470,000 to buy a home and other gifts he has refused to specify _ created a conflict.

Corzine, a Democrat who took office in January 2006, has repeatedly demanded that lawmakers adopt ethics reforms and has imposed tough new ethics rules on his staff. His request for his own ethics review came Monday, a week after Steve Lonegan, the Republican mayor of Bogota, near Hackensack, asked the panel to review Corzine's conduct in negotiations.
