Romney assails Pelosi on Syria visit
Source: yahoo news

"Her going to a state which is without question a sponsor of terror, and having her picture taken with (Bashar) Assad and being seen in a headscarf and so forth is sending the wrong signal to the people of Syria and to the people of the Middle East," the former Massachusetts governor said while campaigning in Johnston, a Des Moines suburb.

"It's a very bad idea to be carrying out a separate and independent foreign policy from the president of the United States," Romney added. "I just don't know what got into her head, to be completely honest with you. I think it was a huge, huge mistake."

Romney's comments came as Pelosi held talks with Assad in Damascus over White House objections. President Bush has denounced the visit, saying it sends mixed messages to Assad's government.

Bush is becoming more and more irrelevant. He may as well go to TX and stay on vacation until Jan 2009.

3. "...is sending the wrong signal to the people of Syria and to the people of the Middle East," ...
Wrong signal? What? That the U.S. still has leaders that believe in diplomacy. That the U.S. still has leaders that believe war is bad. That not everyone thinks like *Co.

Yeah - that's the wrong signal to send to Syria and the people of the Middle East.

What's the correct signal Mitt? Is it that we believe in pre-emptive war? Is it that we believe there is only one way of doing things - that of *Co? Is it that we will bring the whole Middle East down to their knees? Is it that we believe that the oil in the Middle East belongs to the U.S.?

What is the right signal Mitt?

Nancy Pelosi is more presidential than the current pResident and all the Repug toadies that are vying for the pResidency in '08 - including you Mitt?

It is amazing what provincial rubes populate the leadership of the republican party. The idiot is telling us that his RW brain is sick with prejudices that belong in a past century. There has to be some kind of response the Dems can craft to counter this.

16. First of all, Mitt doesn't know the content of Pelosi's discussions with Assad.
The best I can tell is she pressed Assad on Hamas and Hezbollah. So he he is shooting his mouth off there about the foreign policy stuff. Secondly, legislators have been traveling to foreign countries and meeting with foreign leaders for years, with and without the blessing of the President at the time. And I believe there were some Republican members there also so why is he singling out Pelosi? Last time I looked we were not at war with Syria and in fact have diplomatic relations. And finally, what would he suggest that Pelosi do while visiting a mosque - offend her hosts? Yeah, Mitt, that would be a good idea.

You know his head is going to explode when Pelosi visits Saudi Arabia next. Especially after the reports that the Saudi King has rejected an offer from bush in favor of talking to US Democratic leaders.

When they had control of Congress during the Clinton Administration

As for sending a wrong signal to the Middle East, yes I'm sure that peace and diplomacy are anathema to vacuous idiots like Romney but not to sane and rational people throughout the globe.
