Iranian TV airs new video of Britons

By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writer
3 minutes ago

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's official Arabic language television channel aired short
video clips Sunday showing what it said were two of the 15 captured British
sailors pointing to a map of the Persian Gulf.

The two, who appeared in separate video clips wearing military fatigues and
pointing at the same map, were talking to a camera but the channel did not
air their voices. The newscaster said the two "have confessed" to "illegally"
trespassing in Iranian waters.

An Iranian Farsi-language TV station aired the voices of the two crew
members from the new video.

Al-Alam satellite TV said the two sailors were identifying where their boat
crossed into Iranian waters on March 23, leading to their capture. Iran insists
the sailors illegally entered its waters, but Britain says the team was in
Iraqi waters.

Iran TV shows captured UK crew

Iranian state television has aired new footage of two of the 15 Royal Navy
personnel captured nine days ago.

They were shown separately standing in front of a chart of the northern Gulf
where the sailors and marines were seized on March 23.

The Foreign Office described showing the TV footage as "unacceptable".

In the TV footage, the two UK captives were shown talking to camera, but
their voices could not be heard.

1. CNN had the video with sound. They're "confessing" and "apologizing"
...of course, if this isn't enough to get those kids home, seeing as the US just a short while ago buzzed the Iranian coast with an aircraft, they'd better watch their shit.

That story they planted in the Russian and Lebanese press about a US attack on Good Friday might well come true.

If they push it too far, we could see a frigging DESERT TWO (hopefully with lessons learned incorporated). And no doubt they'd do some facility damage while the rest was going on, just to make a point or two.

4. All UK captives say entered illegally: Iran media (will not air any more confessions)
All UK captives say entered illegally: Iran media By Edmund Blair

TEHRAN (Reuters) - All 15 British navy personnel held by Iran have admitted entering Iranian waters illegally, a Tehran news agency said on Monday, but Iran indicated a softer line by saying it would not air film of their "confessions."

Iran's ISNA agency said the decision not to show the film, after similar broadcasts enraged London during the 10-day-old dispute, was based on what the report said was a shift in the "clamorous policies" of the British government.

Britain has dismissed earlier television "confessions" and said they were unacceptable, adding the 15 were in Iraqi waters.

The dispute has raised tensions between the West and the Islamic Republic, already high over Tehran's disputed nuclear program. It pushed oil prices last week to six-month highs.
