Former exile ruler (Chalabi) blames the U.S.
Source: McClatchy

Iraq would be thriving if administration and Iraqi politicians had followed his advice, Chalabi says.

BAGHDAD, Iraq | On the fourth anniversary of the war he peddled as a historic liberation campaign, Ahmad Chalabi on Tuesday pondered what might have been and how it all went wrong.

...

Instead, he recited a litany of missteps he blames on the Bush administration, the U.S. military and newly minted Iraqi politicians who couldn’t overcome their “parochial” interests for the good of the nation.

“The war was a success,” Chalabi declared, “and the occupation a failure.”

...

Chalabi prefers not to dwell on the faulty prewar intelligence he pushed on hawkish U.S. leaders or his stewardship of the purges of former Baath party members, which cost thousands of Iraqis their livelihoods just after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

I'm sure he "prefers not to dwell" on the lies he fed the U.S. State Department.

4. I was going to say something similar. If Chalabi were in charge
then EVERYTHING would have worked out right.

3. That's a lot of gall, coming from an exposed Iranian spy!
I'm sure he's got millions of those mishandled Iraqi funds.

Yes, they made some colossal blunders after they won the war. It's just a pity we can't ship the whole of the neocon cabal over there to face the consequences.

Installing Chalabi as strongman wouldn't have made a difference. He'd have been more brutal than Saddam and less accepted by the people.

The whole thing was already a dismal failure when Saddam was handed over for trial. It's a pity Cheney's lust for oil and war profiteering didn't allow us to declare victory and get out then.

5. Aww...
Poor Mr. Exile. I bet he didn't spare a second thought for all of his victims when he was rallying the tard-in-chief into a war frenzy.

Too little, too late. Perhaps of all people (aside from the various, nefarious entities of Bushco and the media), he is most responsible for the havoc that has been wrought.

Like a poster above said, "Shut the Fuck up, Chalabi!"

6. The going rate for a traitor:
According to this Newsweek article and others I've read, we pay this triple-faced monkey $340,000 a month for his guided tour down the garden of evil path. Way to go, George, you dumb fuck.

9. The Thief of Baghdad
Mr Chalabi and his movement are failures and are not even qualified to run a grocery shop". Qatari newspaper

"He's a criminal banker," says Akins, the former ambassador to Saudi Arabia. "He’s a swindler. He's interested in getting money, and I suspect it’s all gone into his bank accounts and those of his friends."
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3040.htm

Dr. Ahmad Chalabi was the chairman of the Petra Bank in Jordan and was eventually convicted (in his absence) of fraud by a Jordanian court. He maintains he is innocent and says the Iraqi government trumped up the accusations.
