Ark. senator says AG lied to him about plans for Griffin confirmation

LITTLE ROCK - U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor says Attorney General Alberto Gonzales lied when Pryor asked him if the Justice Department planned to eventually seek Senate confirmation for a federal prosecutor named to replace a fired U.S. attorney in Arkansas.

"I don't know a better way to say that he just lied to me," Pryor said Tuesday in an interview on MSNBC. "Basically what I asked him to do was to please send him (the newly appointed U.S. attorney, Tim Griffin) through a confirmation process. He told me he would. He told me that was the intent."

But Pryor said e-mails between Justice Department officials that were recently released by the agency show "they had no intention of ever nominating Tim Griffin."

~snip~

Pryor said that, comparing one of the recently released e-mails to what Gonzales told him in a telephone conversation indicated that the attorney general "basically followed the script (set out) in one of these e-mails."

"It was almost like he had a memo in front of him and he was just reading down the memo on the points he wanted to make with me and he was just following a script," Pryor said.

4. "He just lied to me"
Say it loud -- these guys lie. They don't "misspeak," their statements don't need later "clarification," and they aren't giving us the most complete information they have at the time. They're lying. Say it again, Sen. Pryor. Say it often. It's something that seems to get lost in these stories over and over. They're just lying to us.

5. Maybe that's why the Repubs go for the 'actor' types to run.
I was thinking about that the other day. They have proven they can read a script, and follow director's queues. What more do the repubs need in a politician with people like Cheney, Poppy, etc. calling the shots. And you have to admit that even Ahhhhhnold speaks in clearer sentences than Dipshit does.
