Reid: Rove Should Testify Under Oath
Source: US Newswire

WASHINGTON, March 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today released the following statement on the Bush administration's efforts to prevent White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove from testifying under oath on the partisan firing of U.S. Attorneys.

"After telling a bunch of different stories about why they fired the U.S. Attorneys, the Bush administration is not entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Congress and the American people deserve a straight answer. If Karl Rove plans to tell the truth, he has nothing to fear from being under oath like any other witness."

A fact sheet follows.

The Bush administration on the U.S. Attorneys Case: Fact vs. Fiction

2. How clear can it be -- They don't want to take the oath because they plan on lying

3. Reid could connect that dot too. Then the only way to prove him wrong is to go under oath

4. Now get the rest of the party behind this push
Even if they are scared of taking on Bush or the oil companies or the
arms traders or the corporations, surely this is a subject that they
can ALL get behind?

It doesn't matter who is in the leadership race or anything like that,
this matter transcends petty ambition as it is the first vital step to
taking the Bush cabal down. Any Democratic senator (or congressman)
who isn't prepared to put their own name down behind this should simply
resign now as they are gutless fakes.

5. Not should, will.
If Congress doesn't hold firm on this, Republics will not be the only ones whose heads roll. I hope they understand this. This is not a request and should not be framed as such.

6. good point. Democrats need to scrap the polite mincing and use simple declarative sentences
Karl Rove will testify under oath. If he refuses, we will subpoena him and see where that process leads.

7. And while we are seeing
where it leads, the Democrats shout "what is * hiding? what is * hiding?" from the rooftops.

12. True, but I thought
the * meant the * that goes by his name in history books:

George W. Bush*

*lost the popular vote; was never Constitutionally elected.

10. I noticed that too
"Should" is hedging; covering his ass in case Dems don't muster the cajones to stand up for what is self-evidently appropriate. Dems should recognize the shrub's bravado for what it is: the empty bluster of the desparate.
