EXCLUSIVE: Duke Lacrosse Accuser Not Answering Investigators' Key Questions
March 16, 2007 — The woman who accused three members of the Duke University men's lacrosse team of sexual assault is not being forthcoming with special prosecutors, law enforcement sources close to the case tell ABC News.

The accuser has met at least twice with prosecutors from the North Carolina attorney general's office, which took over the case from Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong in January.

In those interviews, she gave incomplete answers when asked about the alleged assault and the events surrounding it, according to sources.

---cut---

The accuser's testimony is the only known evidence that an alleged sexual assault took place at the off-campus party held by the lacrosse team. Two rounds of DNA testing compared samples from the accuser's body with samples taken from 46 members of the Duke lacrosse team. None of those tests linked any lacrosse players with samples from the rape kit.

3. It would be nice if the guys could sue her for legal expenses
Not that she has the money to pay their expenses but it's the principal of the thing.

2. How many true victims will not be believed because of
this woman's actions?

5. That's the worst part.
My mother was furious at the prosecutor for setting back victims' rights a decade or so.

6. Perhaps "belief" shouldn't be the issue.
Rather than concern ourselves over whether the accuser is "believed" or not we should focus on the basic issues of evidence and proof.

8. OH COME ON NOW
that sort of officious legal talk doesnt cut it in todays media courts! Evidence? Probable Cause? Burden of Proof? Illusions. Constructs as artificial as the Matrix itself.

12. But...but...but...
...don't you realize that, if this woman is making these charges, they must be true? No woman would ever lie about such a thing, and only woman-hating right-wingers would suggest otherwise. If you don't believe her, it speaks volumes about your own sexism and readiness to demonize women. The fact that a majority of DUers are proving themselves to be anti-woman on this matter doesn't make their sexism any less odious. :sarcasm:

7. Rape is so difficult to prove
Sometimes the physical evidence just isn't there and the whole case rests on 'he said-she said.'

But in this case, the more the alleged accuser evades answering the key questions, the more likely it is she is not to be believed.

And don't get me started on Nifong :nuke:
