Obama: Gore Would Make 'Formidable' Foe
Also Vows To Avoid More Wars Of Words With Clinton

(CBS) Barack Obama concedes that Al Gore entering the presidential race would seriously alter the political landscape.

The Illinois senator told The Early Show national correspondent Tracy Smith that the former vice president would be an "extraordinarily formidable" candidate if he were to join the Democratic fray, adding, "He would have as good a resume as anyone in the field, better — uh — than anybody in the field."

Even so, "I would welcome him to go anywhere he wants to go," Obama remarked.

Speculation about a possible Gore candidacy has been increasing since his appearance on the Oscars. Gore's global warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," earned two statuettes.

Geez... that's a loaded term. These writers love to stir up controversy where there is none.

5. Isn't OPPONENT the appropriate term?
What kind of world view is that for Obama if he claims to be the beacon of Hope. . .for crisakes, Gore is a fellow Democrat. . .call turncoat Lieberman "THE FOE" instead of making him his mentor.

8. According to the text Obama actually said "formidible candidate". So maybe
the headline writer was doing a little editorializing of his own. I hate when they do that. The WP is particularly notorious for writing snappy cutesy headlines that manage to obscure the actual content of the story sometimes.

3. Obama would be a great VP pick for Gore
I think they could make a good team. I like Obama and do think someday he will be president, I'd just like to see him get some more experience first. VP for Gore or Hillary would be good training for that future.

I like Obama; he's my senator. But let's face it; he'd be no match for Gore.

21. I think he is playing Hilary not Gore
Senator Obama says Gore would be extraordinarily strong. But I think he is playing Mr Gore against Hilary thinking that if Mr. Gore comes in that he and Hilary would cancel each other out. Go Obama says I. Play it like you mean it.

Raebrek!!!
