Democrats move to require approval before any strike on Iran
WASHINGTON - Fearing that President Bush may be preparing to launch a military strike against Iran, Senate Democrats are drafting legislation that would require the White House to seek congressional approval before any such action.

Freshman Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., a former Republican Navy secretary and decorated Vietnam veteran who opposes the Iraq war, is leading the effort. Webb said Thursday that he's still working on the details, but he intends to introduce his measure next week as an amendment to the $93.4 billion war spending bill.

Democrats aren't satisfied with assurances from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter Pace that there are no plans to attack Iran.
...
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he supports Webb's concept.

"There are many out there much smarter than I am who believe the administration is ramping up to have the same thing happen in Iran that's happened in Iraq," Reid said.

2. They really have been a little dense on the subject, haven't they?
And how 'bout our boy Webb? He sure has hit the ground running, hasn't he?

Christ I hope the newly elected Democrat's realize that the burden is upon them to "get things done".

As of late, I have been greatly disappointed in the Democratic leadership these first few weeks at the helm.

8. Me too, which IMO makes Webb -- the new kind on the block
and it's a very BIG block -- all the more impressive.

4. Reid said what?
"There are many out there much smarter than I am who believe the administration is ramping up to have the same thing happen in Iran that's happened in Iraq," Reid said.

Excuse me?? Countless millions know more than Reid? A freaking Senator of the USA? The freaking Majority Leader of the Senate?

You know, I really think that 95% of the Congress and Senate are with Bush... and America is being completely destoyed...on purpose...

5. This is unnecessary
The Constitution takes care of this perfectly. It's too bad that, if necessary, no president is ever going to actually make war through proper legal channels ever again. At least not this one.

6. What about the unconstitutional "signing statement" Bu$che will ...
predictably just issue and then commit whatever other crime he wants to commit?

Without investigating all his previous crimes, sorry but, this will end up as being just another brick in the wall, IMHO.

9. The next scheduled terrorist attack will overcome all objections
Color me cynical but I believe these bastards are ready to spring yet another "9/11" on us. They've created a hell of a lot of chatter about the use of nuclear weapons here in the states.

Once the next "terrorist attack" occurs, they'll grab and keep all the power they want. The Constitution will be just a fond memory for us.

Enjoy your dystopian future!

10. Did they raise and drop the idea of changing the Iraq war authorization?
Then they tried and lost the non-binding resolution to waste time?

Then they raised and dropped the idea of opposing the trillions for more death?

What the fuck are these imbeciles doing?
