Anti-Bush Protests in Uruguay
Montevideo, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) Repudiation by Uruguayan social sectors of US President George W. Bush visit to that nation March 9 will take the form of demonstrations in and outside the capital, it was announced on Tuesday.
Bush visit to Uruguay will be part of a Latin American tour that will also take him to Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.
Daniel De Souza, secretary general of FUCVAM (National Federation of Housing Cooperatives for Mutual Assistance), confirmed that protests at Bush s presence in Uruguay will also be held in the province of Colonia, 112 miles west of Montevideo.
For his part, union leader Juan Castillo said that the Uruguayan people consider the US president persona non grata for his genocide of thousands of innocent people in the occupation wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The political board of the governing Frente Amplio also rejected Bush s "warmongering and human rights violating" policy on Monday, but made it clear that the president s visit takes place "within the framework" of Uruguay s policy to "expand trade relations with the rest of the world."
In January, the Frente Amplio governing coalition signed an Agreement on Trade and Investment that many analysts have described as the prelude of a bilateral free trade agreement.

Bush is so popular, I'm really surprised that someone hasn't nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize!
