Former astronaut considers launching campaign against Sununu
HANOVER, N.H. --A Dartmouth Medical School professor and former astronaut is considering a Democratic bid to unseat Republican Sen. John Sununu.

Dr. Jay Buckey said he is exploring how much support he could muster in what could be a crowded Democratic field. Former congressional candidate Katrina Swett and Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand are in the race and several others are considering it.

...

Buckey, the medical director for hyperbaric medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, served on the space shuttle Columbia in 1998 as a payload specialist -- someone trained by a commercial or research group for space missions. He spent 16 days in space, orbiting the earth 256 times as he studied the effects of space travel on the brain and nervous system.

This will be an interesting primary.

3. Well sure it could: Gregg is far worse.
Sununu will actually vote against the party line on occasion. Gregg is a complete fascist idiot.

7. A scientist AND a Dem. I like that combo.
We need to pack the government with this type. It's full of anti-science Christofascists now, and that is a VERY bad thing.

11. I was hoping Jeanne Shaheen would go for a rematch.
Especially since the phone-jamming scandal essentially stole New Hampshire for Sununu.

Or maybe John Lynch, since he's the most popular governor in the country.

But I'll take Dr. Buckey. We need all the help we can get.

12. Whoever runs against Sununu will need to keep in mind Sununu's side will cheat,
or more specifically, the ones of them who are still not in prison for the phone-jamming crimes.

Knowing they are a bunch of criminals who will risk prison to win should be a useful tool.
