China rejects U.S. criticism of military build-up

Feb 27, 2007 — BEIJING (Reuters) - China dismissed U.S. criticism of its military
build-up on Tuesday, saying the world's most populous country was an important
force for world peace.

Vice President Dick Cheney raised concerns about China's military build-up last
week and said an anti-satellite test was not consistent with Beijing's stated goal
of a "peaceful rise."

"China adheres to the road of peaceful development, and it is an important power
for the preservation of the world peace and promotion of world development,"
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a news conference on Tuesday.

"It can be proved from China's stance and the role it has played in North Korea's
nuclear issue," Qin said, adding that China had also opposed the proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction and their carriers.

2. Spending more than the rest of the world combined on military

3. We are the only ones allowed to do this.
Dammit how can we rule the planet if other nations get to build up their military forces. It is just not fair.

5. No doubt.
The US complaining about military buildup is like Bill Gates complaining about money build up. The US spends more than all nations on Earth combined on "defense." Of course, most of that is sloughed off by war profiteers like Bush and Cheney and their money-grubbing billionaire pals.

China labels U.S. peeping tom over defense spending 37 minutes ago

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's Foreign Ministry likened U.S. doubts about Chinese defense spending on Thursday to a peeping tom poking through Beijing's underwear, describing the Asian giant as a benign neighbor and force for peace.

Vice President Dick Cheney raised concerns about China's military build-up last week when touring Asia.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang quickly rejected Cheney's criticism, but at Thursday's regular news briefing he added a new twist to the rhetoric.

"If someone always tears through your clothes and even wants to lift open your underwear, saying 'Let me see what's inside', how would you feel? Would you want to call the police?" Qin told reporters when asked about Cheney's remarks.
