Johnson co-sponsors legislation

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Tim Johnson has co-sponsored his first piece of legislation since he suffered a brain hemorrhage in December.

The South Dakota Democrat signed on to a bill that would pay farmers for losses due to drought and other disasters. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., is also a co-sponsor.

The legislation, which is estimated to cost more than $4.5 billion, is slightly different from a bill that Johnson supported last year, adding some money for recovery from blizzards that happened in December.

A release issued by Johnson's office Thursday said the senator has been updated and agrees with the modified version of the bill.

"This is a first step for the senator," said Drey Samuelson, Johnson's chief of staff. "He spends much of his day in therapy sessions, but as time allows, he has begun reviewing work."

After the election in november, and changing the avatar for the day to the "I voted" one, I realized that I no longer had my old unicycle avatar... SO, I thought I'd make one that was appropriate for the change of seasons. No- not from fall to winter- but from that awful football season to the new basketball season!
