Saudi al-Qaida urges strikes on U.S. oil sources
Wing of terrorist organization specifically cites Canada, Venezuela, Mexico

NBC News and news services
Updated: 31 minutes ago

CAIRO, Egypt - A Saudi Arabian terrorist faction affiliated with al-Qaida has urged Muslim militants to attack oil facilities all over the world, including Canada, Mexico and Venezuela, to stop the flow of oil to the United States, according to an article by the group posted on the Internet.

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula said in its monthly magazine posted on an Islamic Web site that “cutting oil supplies to the United States, or at least curtailing it, would contribute to the ending of the American occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.” The group said it was making the statements as part of Osama bin Laden’s declared policy. It was not possible to verify independently that the posting was from the terror faction.

Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for last year’s attacks on oil installations in Saudi Arabia and Yemen after bin Laden called on militants to stop the flow of oil to the West. The group also was behind the 2002 attack on a French oil tanker that killed one person in the Gulf of Aden.

Call to cut U.S. oil imports
The article in the online magazine Sawt al-Jihad, or Voice of the Holy War, said the United States would always need more oil.

1. This is a threat...
This could be a real threat and the fact that we havent worked to reduce our reliance on oil is shameful.

4. "Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula said in its monthly magazine..."
I don't remember seeing that magazine on the list in the Publisher's Clearinghouse mailing. What gives? Do I have a chance to win a new car if I subscribe?

Hey, I've seen "magazines" on the web that urge lots of things, including killing federal judges. Do we bomb northern Idaho now?

It's no surprise that there are lots of people around the world who don't like us and rail for some kind of "action." We're a rogue nation, run by a criminal cabal. We're universally despised.

Geez, where do they come up with editors for this crap? I wonder if the person at NBC responsible for this thinks the "internets" is a bunch of "tubes."

5. Tinfoil hat makes me wonder if it is a ploy to drive up oil prices.
A threat like that, if taken seriously, could benefit oil companies and OPEC nations by increasing oil futures without actually having to cut back in supply. They wouldn't have to carry out an actual bombing just have a disrupted plot. It makes me wonder if big oil and/or OPEC is actually behind that threat. I'm probably just being a little paranoid, though. Huh? :tinfoilhat:

6. So Saudi Arabia has an al-Qaeda chapter?
I thought they were our pals! Does this chapter have OBL as its president? Why hasn't the Saudi Royal Family cleaned al-Qaeda out of its country? One might think they would do this in order to divert any perception that they supported terrorism after 9/11.

On second thought, perhaps they supported terrorism before, during, and after 9/11...hmmmmm
