Irans Khamenei satisfied over Saddam arrest; targets Bush and Sharon

<snip>Speaking in the city of Qazvin, the all-powerful leader also accused Saddam's captors of hypocrisy, noting their support of Iraq (news - web sites) during its 1980-88 war against the Islamic republic that cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iranians.

"The same Americans who are now happy over his arrest were at the time shaking his hand. The current US defence minister (Donald Rumsfeld) met with Saddam in Baghdad, promised to help him and helped him in order to put Islamic Iran under pressure," Khamenei said Tuesday.

"I heard the US president told Saddam that 'the world is a better place without you'. I want to tell the US president that he should know the world would be an even better place without Bush and Sharon."

State television's live coverage of the speech showed the crowd responding with the habitual chants of "Death to Saddam", "Death to Israel" and "Death to America".

2. <gulp>
Death to America, eh? THat's so 80's. It is my understanding that the youth of Iran are quite progressive, and that there is actually quite a liberal democracy emerging. Regardless, it sounds as if they have their fair share of right wing lunatics - who doesn't?

3. Until the Irania youth realize that they are being used as pawns to bring
down their own people and that no matter what they do the right wing that controls America will never embrace them and consider them all to be heathens unworthy of equality with the Beast>

4. So much for the enemy of your enemy is your friend....
I'm wondering if they're conflicted....shouting "Death to Saddam" and "Death to America"....if America executes Saddam, do we become the "not quite so bad" guys to them? After all, we'd be doing "Allah's will", wouldn't we?
