Dems may override Bush on kid insurance
WASHINGTON - Democrats may try to override a decision by President Bush to leave stopgap children's health insurance money out of his 2007 emergency war spending proposal.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) asked the president last week to propose $745 million in supplemental spending for the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP, which primarily covers children in low-income working families.

Bush declined the lawmakers' request in the $93 billion emergency war spending proposal he submitted Monday to cover the remainder of 2007. But Democrats, eager to show policy differences with the White House, are saying they may add the $745 million when the bill comes up in the coming weeks.

"It's certainly an option," said Drew Hammill, a Pelosi spokesman. "We know the states are running out of money on this. We're exploring all options."

2. Good. Override the rest of that shit, too!
Get our troops out of Iraq, and use that money to do something about global warming.

3. An override in the senate is not up to the Dems. We need pug votes
or it cannot be overridden. In the senate we are going to have to find a way to convince at least some of the pugs to vote with us or *ss is going to be able to veto everything we send him. And unfortunately he is so childish that he will veto most of what we send him.

5. There is at least one that even he couldn't be that stupid not to vote with the Dems
possibly two - Saxby Chambliss of GA is up for re-election next year and GA is one of the 13 states that is about to run out of money for it's PeachCare. I'm betting that Chambliss and probably Isakson will be voting with the Dems for this. Ahhh...sweet justice....Saxby trading in being Bush's lapdog! :)

6. 21 Republic senators up in '08
Turn the screws on them. Force them to vote against the children in favor of a war. Then bring up a snowflake baby and say the republic senator hates the gift of God, he voted against them. Turn the screws on these people. It is that simple!

4. Democrats are not "eager to show policy differences."
In this instance, they are trying to protect the most vulnerable in our society.

I really despise the way these articles are worded, as if everything were a scheme of one-upsmanship with bush. That just isn't true. The Democrats were elected to restore a proper balance of priorities in our country.
