Gore says Bush administration paying scientists to dispute global warming

MADRID , SPAIN (CNN) -- Former Vice President Al Gore said in an interview on Tuesday the Bush administration is now paying scientists to dispute global warming since the administration can no longer argue against it.

During an interview with CNN affiliate Cuatro in Madrid, Gore said, "they've lost the argument and they don't want to stop dumping all this pollution into the Earth's atmosphere. The only thing they have left is cash and now they're offering cash for so-called skeptics who will try to confuse people about what the science really say. But it's unethical because now the time has come when we have to act."

1. Well Al, you won't have to worry about the President paying off scientists...
if you go ahead and become the President yourself! :-)

because I hope he's getting closer to making that decision.

2. AEI officially offered the cash not the admin
Granted AEI is funded by ExxonMobil and all of the"think-tank" experts spew the admin line and propel illegal wars etc. But the WH itself did not pay or offer to pay... at least that we know. :grr:

13. not officially
I thought I was clear that they are in bed with the administration, they are the voice of the administration but technically not the admin. Gore, who I love and hope beyone hope that he runs, is either being misquoted or is incorrect. The WH did not offer cash, the AEI did. The WH would love it if they actually found someone to refute it, the desires of the Oil Industry are one with the * admin but still remain officially separate.

16. Well, depending on how you look at it
Thanks to all those tax cuts, Exxon has PLENTY of cash to spend on attacking science. And who championed and signed those tax cuts into law?

The administration no longer has to hide its lawbreaking, it does it publicly, with impunity, and while the press watches.

The ignorant trash which make up his base and free republic will site chapter and verse some fucking "scientist" who got his degree from the University of Abramoff that global warming is just some bullshit made up by activist liberals. "Conservatives" in this country, ignorant trash is just the gift that keeps on giving for dubya although their numbers are getting smaller.

14. And this is NOTa political issue
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 05:05 PM by RestoreGore
And I do not think Mr. Gore is saying these things because he wants to run, and coming from CNN I wonder if he is even being quoted correctly. This is about the issue and acting on a a moral level, therefore to me it would follow that impeaching these criminals is one action that we need to logically follow through on. And yes, WE need to ACT also regarding this climate crisis NOW, but just what are those actions? Shouldn't we (meaning us and them) be moving on to them sometime soon instead of just bitching back and forth?

21. Just like the Nazis, Soviets, and every other Totalitarian Regime
ALL have their own propagandists, ALL have their "bought bobbleheads" (what a erfectly descriptive term!) and ALL plant them in every facet of society, for it is every facet of society which Totalitarians like Hitler or Bush seek to control.

22. CNN USES PARTIAL QUOTE - SUBSTITUTES "THEY" FOR BUSH ADMIN
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 07:12 PM by Crisco
Sorry. I don't usually write titles in caps, but it's worth screaming about that CNN attributes an incendiary quote to Gore, but doesn't back up their assertion with the full quote.

But it's unethical because now the time has come when we have to act.

Nowhere in the article is there a directive where Gore says the Bush admin is paying. Just, "they."

26. Why is this news... they hire journalists/actors to be journalists...
When they don't like the results of studies, they change the parameters that are studied to get the outcome they want. When counting votes doesn't go their way, they hire folks to storm the building. Shall I go on?

Why should anyone be shocked anymore at what lengths this crybaby administration will go to in order to get their way?
