Biden: 'Failed policy' emboldens enemy
WASHINGTON - The Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman on Sunday dismissed criticism that a resolution opposing a troop buildup in Iraq would embolden the enemy and estimated perhaps only 20 senators believe President Bush "is headed in the right direction."

"It's not the American people or the U.S. Congress who are emboldening the enemy," said Democratic Sen. Joe Biden, a White House hopeful in 2008. "It's the failed policy of this president — going to war without a strategy, going to war prematurely."

The Democratic-controlled Senate plans to begin debate this week on a nonbinding resolution declaring that Bush's proposal to send 21,500 more troops to Baghdad and Anbar province is "not in the national interest."

Last week, Biden's committee approved the measure on a near party-line vote of 12-9.

5. Will the 'nonbinding resolution' debate be the beginning of the end?
It may have taken 2+ years (as best I remember) for the nonbinding resolution in '73(?) to get us out of VietNam - I can only hope this madness created by King George, the Nixonites and Neocons can be undone even faster.

6. At the risk of sounding obtuse
May I suggest that, to me at least, the Iraqi insurgents who are fighting to remove foreign occupiers are not the enemy. The enemy is the commander in chump who put our soldiers into an impossible situation and insists on keeping them there.

Impeach. Now.

16. THANK you.
I will never understand how some can praise those who say we "had poor planning" and "no plan to win".

Um, hello? Illegal war? Shouldn't BE a plan to 'win'?

7. What emboldens the enemy
is watching US military giving living proof to our enemies propaganda machine that the United States

1. has imperialistic aims in the Middle East
2. Wishes to impose a western-style democracy on peoples of the middle east (as opposed to self-determination among nations)
3. Wishes to impose Christianity upon the Muslim world.

If this is a "clash of civilizations" then, truly, our military presence in the region indicates that we wish to impose our civilization by use of force....

and that, my friends, emboldens our enemies...

8. "...going to war prematurely"
I guess this is the best we can expect from "Credit Card Joe" Biden. He just can't come out and say the truth: Going to war unnecessarily, based on lies.

10. More Bushit
Opposing the war doesn't "embolden the enemy". Sending more troops in does. Remember, these assholes WANT to kill Americans! They're building more IEDs and saying "Bring It On!" in Arabic.

12. How come
When Lieberman votes with the republicans its bi-parisian. But if a republican crosses over its a "near party line" vote.
I hate the Media!

14. Wha?? Last chance for the Iraqis to step up and take over??
"I think I can pretty well speak for virtually all Republican senators when I say this is the last chance for the Iraqis to step up and do their part," said McConnell, R-Ky.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
I cant get my mind around this. Maybe the Iraqis dont want to 'do their part' - they never asked us to invade their country, kill 200,000 of their citizens and uncork a civil war. If they were going to 'do their part' (whatever that means), they would have done it. McConnell has his head up his ass. That explains the muffled sound when he speaks.

18. Sadly, even some elected Dems repeat this White Man's Burden bullshit.
As if the Iraqis WANT us there and just won't let us leave.

22. Just the fact that we allowed a tool of the super-rich to become President
has emboldened the enemy. Thanks for nothing, Bush voters.

23. What "enemy"?
The people of the nation who were illegally invaded?

Enough of this GOP-lite bullshit about "prematurely" going to war or going to war "without a plan," as if plans are morality.

The war was always wrong. It will always be so. Go fuck yourself, Mr. Articulate.
