Pelosi Hits Bush For Failing to Consult on Iraq Plan

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday that President George W. Bush did not consult her before announcing his new strategy for the war in Iraq -- a sign that, despite the cozy rhetoric, the relationship between Washington's two powerhouses has already had its share of friction.

In an interview, Pelosi also said she was puzzled by what she considered the president's minimalist explanation for his confidence in the new surge of 21,500 U.S. troops that he has presented as the crux of a new "way forward" for U.S. forces in Iraq.

"He's tried this two times -- it's failed twice," the California Democrat said. "I asked him at the White House, 'Mr. President, why do you think this time it's going to work?' And he said, 'Because I told them it had to.' "

Asked if the president had elaborated, she added that he simply said, " 'I told them that they had to.' That was the end of it. That's the way it is."

1. It's now confirmed
Bush is out of his F***ing mind!!!!

'I told them that they had to.' Isn't this the same order Hitler gave to General von Paulaus at Stalingrad, and we know how that turned out, don't we?

This man is batshit crazy, and more troops will die while the Repukes make excuses, and whine because they aren't being treated with civility.

2. Good for her. He didn't wait for anyone before ordering more troops to Iraq.
He's NOT interested in working "with" the Democratic Congress. Hell, he didn't work "with" the Republican Congress.

3. He issued orders back in November
It takes about 30 to 45 days for deployment orders to be completed. I'm guessing that the orders were being issued the very same day that Gates was nominated, because he told the White House what was coming down in the ISG report.

7. More magical thinking
By simply naming something, Bush apparently truly thinks he can call it into being. The troop surge will work because Bush told "them" (whoever that refers to) that it had to work. That's it; no muss, no fuss, the escalation will work because it has to work.

This is a mindset I would find childish in a 12-year-old. I don't have words to describe what I think it is for a 60-year-old.
