Ed Tribble and Lorraine Rivera Report
Raytheon strike over, new contract signed

After more than 18 hours of back and forth negotiations striking members of the Raytheon machinists union have agreed to go back to work accepting a revised employee contract.

It's a 3-year contract offering a 9 percent pay increase. That's the same as the original offer, but Raytheon doubled the cash bonus from $500 to $1,000 to help offset medical plan expenses.

Finally, the new contract puts a cap on medical premiums for union workers, which the original contract did not include.

"Relief, there's relief. I'm glad to see our folks have supported the majority and will go back to work," union leader Bobby Martinez says.

It was a full ten weeks. Raytheon made do without more than a thousand employees, many of them blue-collar workers.
