C-SPAN: House passes H.R. 3, the stem cell bill
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 03:12 PM by Chichiri
253-174. Nancy has taken over for Barney at the speaker's chair, just long enough to announce the results. Applause from the floor at the announcement.

My math fails me at the moment -- is this a 2/3rds majority?

3. The Reps are so out of touch with US public on this issue. The vote illustrates that. nt

4. How Did This Vote Go - How Many Dems Voted Against It?......
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 03:17 PM by global1
I was listening to some of the debate and heard my Congressman - Dan Lipinsk D (IL) speak out against this bill. I immediately - while he was still talking - called his office and told them he has lost my support.

What I'm trying to get at is if the Dems would have supported it enmasse - I think we could have had a 2/3 majority.

11. That's great, but we need to get 290 to over-ride *'s veto
and he will veto this because he's an asshole.

Let's hope the 50-state strategy gives us a veto-proof super-majority real soon...and a Dem president.

15. CNN Poll: 82% say Bush should not veto bill
but he will. and the Dems should really run with that as proof that he's completely out of step with America and is using his office to push is 18th century Fundamentalist christian views onto the people.

16. Quick! Start planting those snowflake babies in Bush's daughters!
No?

How about them going to Iraq?

No?

How about them going to Paraguay to set up Bush's post-impeachment estate?

O.K. That they can do!
