Yvonne De Carlo, Star of TV's `Munsters,' Dies in LA at 84

LOS ANGELES Jan 10, 2007 (AP)— Yvonne De Carlo, the beautiful star who played Moses' wife in "The Ten Commandments" but achieved her greatest popularity on TV's slapstick comedy "The Munsters," has died. She was 84.

De Carlo died of natural causes Monday at the Motion Picture & Television facility in suburban Los Angeles, longtime friend and television producer Kevin Burns said Wednesday.

<snip>
But for TV viewers, she will always be known as Lily Munster in the 1964-1966 horror-movie spoof "The Munsters." The series (the name allegedly derived from "fun-monsters") offered a gallery of Universal Pictures grotesques, including Dracula and Frankenstein's monster, in a cobwebbed gothic setting.

RIP, Lily...

6. Just post the link in its entirety
The forum software will take care of the rest.

But be aware that if you link to a photo not on a server you control it may be removed later and all your post will display is a broken image icon.

Have fun!

2. I remember her in "The Captain's Paradise"
The GREAT Alec Guiness movie where he plays a transport captain with a wife in Tangier and Gibraltar. She dared him to dance the Tango in one of the scenes, he was utterly unprepared but he pulled it off.

9. My friend grew up with her son
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 05:56 PM by Ayesha
One afternoon, she was driving them home from school when a storm hit. She opened the moon roof of the car to let the rain come in, and proclaimed, "Ah, what a lovely day!" She really was a lot like Lily Munster, and a wonderful, kind person.

RIP, Yvonne.

24. I was gonna say the same thing
With all her Lily makeup, I think people could easily forget just how beautiful she was. I'll never forget realizing that the beautiful uh, shepardess (I hope that's a word) that married Moses in the Ten Commandments was actually Lily Munster.

I think she was incredible.

RIP!!

Very talented and so much more than Lily Munster (though I LOVED her in that role and that is really one of my guilty pleasure shows). RIP, Yvonne - you're one of my favorites.

she was a special guest at Universal studios way back in 1978. I still remember it, a very nice lady, me an excited kid meeting a favorite TV star.
