Bush Calls on Democrats to Work With Him
Bush Calls on Democrats to Work With Him
By TERENCE HUNT, AP White House Correspondent
Tuesday, January 2, 2007
01-02) 19:12 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --

President Bush, facing a Democratic-controlled Congress for the first time, is urging lawmakers to work with his administration and warning that "political statements" in the form of legislation would result in a stalemate.

"Together, we have a chance to serve the American people by solving the complex problems that many don't expect us to tackle, let alone solve, in the partisan environment of today's Washington," Bush wrote in a guest column for The Wall Street Journal posted on the newspaper's Web site Tuesday night.

"To do that, however, we can't play politics as usual," he said. "Democrats will control the House and Senate, and therefore we share the responsibility for what we achieve."

Bush, while sounding a tone of bipartisanship on the eve of the new session of Congress that begins Thursday, repeated long-held positions on the war in Iraq, tax cuts and other issues often criticized by Democrats. He has vetoed only one bill, but he reminded readers that the Constitution calls on the president to use his judgment in deciding which bills to sign into law.

2. While he's reading that Constitution thingie he might consider taking in some of the finer details.
I mean as long as he's got it out.

The only reason he's writing this crap is to prepare the public for a long string of vetoes he has planned.

Umm, that's the problem it isn't all about politics it's about the law and he wants to avoid that truth. One would think Mr. * was more than a little scared these days, he's about to have some things really challenged and he's about to stomp his feet and hold his breath until his face turns red. This could be fun!

...read: the way myself and my party and our paymasters have run things the last six years. Because as we've seen, that doesn't get SHIT down except enrich the friends and family of Bush.

10. So in other words
ush and the republicans rammed everything down the throats of the democrats. They passed laws THEY WANTED. They gave contracts to who they wanted. They brought up bills pertaining to amendments for same sex marriage. Gays, Terri Schavio while ignoring the economy, health insurance, food for the needy, Katrina, gas prices, presctiptions and now bush wants the dems to cave and give him WHAT HE WANTS. BULL..ABSOLUTE BULL. If the dems cave to him I will stay away from the polls in 2008.

24. So now he's talking bipartisanship again?
Like the bipartisanship he showed right after the election when he talked about how he wanted to move past partisan rancor and then less than two weeks later appointed Dr. Eric Keroack, an anti-choice, anti-contraception, anti-sexuality wingnut to a top post in the Department of Health and Human Services? That kind of "bipartisanship"?

Yeah. Good luck with that, monkeyboy. :sarcasm:

28. Is that a threat Heir bush*?
"he reminded readers that the Constitution calls on the president to use his judgment in deciding which bills to sign into law."

What judgment?

Oh, now Republicans are all crying, screaming and promoting bipartisanship. If they think it's such a good idea and was so important...why the hell didn't they practice it for the past 6 years?

They actually changed the house rules to eliminate Democratic input!

NOW they say it's unfair to them when Nancy follows their rules. Horse**it! Those rules were fine when they thought they were going to be in power for the next 50 years.

But I must say...I do hope the rules will be turned back later in the year after all the 100 day goals are accomplished. But that opinion is subject to change...we'll see.

29. NOW he wants bipartisanship?
Here's what he really thinks about working with Democrats, or anyone, for that matter:

"I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president."
—as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

That's what the Democrats can expect from him. Doesn't matter if they try to be accommodating; The Decider will decide. Bipartisanship be damned..let's go for the throat.
