WH: bin Laden Capture "A Success That Hasn't Occured Yet"
Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 12:22 PM by Mark E. Smith

December 29, 2006

Five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden is still at large -- but
that's not a failure of White House policy, says Frances Fragos Townsend. As
she explained to CNN's White House correspondent Ed Henry last night:

Henry: You know, going back to September 2001, the
president said, dead or alive, we're going to get him. Still
don't have him. I know you are saying there's successes in the
war on terror, and there have been. That's a failure.

Townsend: Well, I'm not sure -- it's a success that hasn't
occured yet. I don't know that I view that as a failure.

Now there's a new and exciting definition of success. I'm an American League
batting champion, you know. Just hasn't occured yet.

3. Awesome!
All our successes are there, they just haven't happened yet. Maybe these a-holes will eventually be raptured after all into some imaginary parallel universe where they won't impinge on intelligent life.

osama on ice just waiting for the right time to thaw him out. It wouldn't be now with Ford in the Rotunda and sadam freshly hanged.

OTH, maybe they're just blowin' smoke outta their collective ass.

50. I doubt it.
They'd have dragged him out for public display a long time ago. They'd
probably parade him through the streets of Washington DC given the
chance.

26. Bush in his majestic greatness has even conquered time travel
and has already been to the future where he has captured Bin Laden. Other examples of Bush's divinity as a being from beyond this world who has special powers that allow him to move backward and forward through time:

“I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future.”
~ George W. Bush

“I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for my predecessors as well.”
~ George W. Bush
Washington, D.C., 2001-01-29

“One year ago today, the time for excuse-making has come to an end.”
~ George W. Bush
Source: Federal News Service, Remarks by President George W. Bush on Anniversary of No Child Left Behind Act, Washington, D.C., 2003-01-08

“Today’s struggle against terrorism will require the sacrifice of our forefathers, but it is a sacrifice I can promise you we’ll make. It’s a sacrifice for the good of America, for the good of France, for the good of freedom around the world.”
~ George W. Bush

President Bush said that the war in Iraq was “succeeding more slowly than I expected.” It succeeded in killing another 100 soldiers this month while he met with advisors in Crawford. Funny, that. Three and a half years into the occupation, the ISG report and George suddenly asks for advice. Where the hell were those advisors the last three years? Ah! Not advising him to do what he will do anyway. Never mind . . .

Ms. Frances Fragos Townsend, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, has taken success in the war on terror to new heights. In an interview on CNN Dec. 28 with White House correspondent Ed Henry the following exchange was had:

Ed Henry: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we're going to get him. Still don’t have him. I know you are saying there's successes in the war on terror, and there have been. That's a failure.

Townsend: Well, I'm not sure -- it's a success that hasn't occurred yet. I don't know that I view that as a failure.

Paraphrasing Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, “That’s a definition of <success> that I have not been previously made aware of,” (Ford Prefect had just told Arthur Dent they were in the hold of a Vogon Destructor Ship and were perfectly <safe> ) or perhaps this is an example of George Orwell’s Newspeak: War is Peace, Truth is Lie, and Failure is Success.

Sometimes the absurdity of it all just makes me weep.

It's either:

A) one more example of America's "can do" spirit, the kind that got us through the Depression and World War II, put a man on the moon and built the interstate highway system

Or

B) complete psychosis.

I'm going with B.
