CNN Poll: Approval For Iraq Handling Drops To New Low (28%)
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Support for President Bush's management of the Iraq war has dropped to an all-time low even as his overall approval remains tepid but steady, according to a CNN poll released Monday.

The survey, conducted Friday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corp., found support for Bush's handling of the Iraq conflict has decreased to 28 percent from 34 percent in a poll taken October 13-15.

And a record 70 percent of respondents said they disapproved of Bush's war management, up from 64 percent in the October poll.

Meanwhile, Bush's overall job approval was 36 percent -- down only 1 percentage point from the last CNN poll asking that question December 5-7.

Sixty-two percent said they disapproved of his performance in office, up from 57 percent in the previous poll.

Dunno about the tepid thing. It seems to me a 62% disapproval number would be enough to refreeze the polar ice caps.

1. how can only 28% approve of Iraq but overall 36% approve of Bush?
Edited on Mon Dec-18-06 06:29 PM by WI_DEM
Iraq and Bush are intertwined. It is the hallmark of his presidency. You mean some people actually think that his handling of Iraq is wrong/bad but overall "he's doin' a good job"???? psychos!

2. What handling? There is no handling.
They dump truckloads of money in the hopper, and more dead people and destroyed infrastructure comes out. :banghead::banghead:

3. Right, and how about
the statement that his overall rating is "down only 1 percentage point"? The poll results are anything but tepid.

7. Who are these people?
Even if you still think the war was the right thing to do ...
Even if you believe GW is a good man and you support his domestic agenda ...
Even if you're a die-hard Republican partisan ....

... if you've paid attention the last 3 years and have half a brain, you have to KNOW his handling of Iraq has been ABYSMAL.

The only way you might APPROVE is if you believe the chaos this has generated will hasten armageddon and the rapture you so earnestly desire.

Do 28% of those polled fall into that category or are they simply ignorant?

8. I think that most of us are shocked that anybody would approve.
Edited on Mon Dec-18-06 06:59 PM by superconnected
Then there's the bell curve. On the bell curve half of all people are under 100. Nearly 16% are under 85. Sometimes it helps to remember that when you're dealing wth people who approve of Bush and how Iraq is being handled.

11. I wish "We told you so" was an appropriate response
To those who "approved" in the first place. But it's too tragic, and too sad. The outcome was predictable, and WAS predicted. Makes me sick.

We told them so.
Nope. Doesn't feel any better to say it.
Please, let it end soon.

14. Clearly we need to require logic courses to graduate from 8th grade.
I mean how can anyone logically approve of Bush's handling of Iraq?
