CNN ticker: Cheny to have pacemaker check (While GWB is in Africa?)
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 10:47 AM by doxieone
Is this .... practical???

Meanwhile on the legal front, Cheny lost an appeal. Maybe that helped make the old ticker need a recheck, too. (Pacemaker inserted in June of 2001)

1. It's not like they're going to let Uncle Dick drop dead.....
The guy's got a built in defibrilator for shits sake! All that Halliburton money buys him better health care than any of us are ever likely to have. And if he did have the big one while Junior was out of the country, they could always fly Poppy in from Maine. Or just let Rove run things on his own :scared:

9. "It's not like they're going to let Uncle Dick drop dead"

That's not something I would count on if I were him.

8. Well, the replacement would likely be as bad...
but would also likely not have his finger in as many Haliburton deals...

6. pacemaker checks are routine...
...and virtually uncomplicated. roughly 6 mos apart wouldn't be unreasonable.

10. Cheney question...
Does anyone think he'll resign before the next election? I'm sure he'll always be welcomed back at Halliburton (especially since they own the Iraqi oil now) but the likely hood of him running for Prez in '08 if by some horrible chance bush won in '04 seems to be slim to none given his health.

I can see Rove placing Condi Rice in as VP to have her up against Hillary Clinton in '08 in hopes to split the votes among women and minorities. It just seems stupid to me from a stategic stand point to keep Cheney as VP.

11. I'm sure Battery Boy's heart is still black as coal.
Our VP is a sociopath, lacking empathy for others, but overly concerned with his own safety. Have the taxpayers seen the bunker under his house yet?

12. Sunspot Activity
Gee, am I naughty for hoping that the sun spits out a massive flare at about the time the docs are tinkering with Cheney's pacemaker, causing an tremendous electromagnetic pulse of a few million volts in the ionosphere which then grounds itself out in a blinding flash through Cheney's chest and frying him to a crisp in the process?

13. Unfortunately, only the good die young
so DICK is probably going to be with us for a long time to come.

But, no, you are not naughty for your hopes and dreams. We all have to have a dream.

Man charged with tossing water balloon at Hastert
House speaker was driving fire truck in Petunia parade
Tuesday, July 8, 2003 Posted: 7:45 AM EDT (1145 GMT)

House Speaker Dennis Hastert

DIXON, Illinois (AP) -- A man attending a parade faces charges for tossing a water balloon at U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert.

John Allen, 33, is accused of throwing the balloon during the Dixon Petunia Festival parade. The balloon broke on an antique fire truck driven by Hastert, who got wet but was not injured.

Allen was arrested Sunday and was later charged with felony aggravated battery. He posted $25,000 bail on Monday and said in court he didn't know Hastert was driving the truck.

"He is third in line to the presidency of the United States. You won't forget it next time, will you?" asked Judge Tomas Magdich.

Hastert did not immediately return telephone calls Monday from The Associated Press. Allen's telephone number was not in service Monday.
