Six killed in Baghdad attacks

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Bombs have exploded across Baghdad killing six people in another day of violence that appeared largely targeted against members of the security forces.

A suicide bomber blew up his vehicle against an Iraqi police commando base in south Baghdad, killing one policeman and wounding five others in the Dura district, a security official said Monday.

In northwest Baghdad, another faultline in the capital's sectarian dirty war, a bomb planted in a garage in the al-Iskan neighborhood exploded as a police commando patrol passed.

The blast killed a bystander and wounded four others, including two police commandos, and took place near the private al-Maamun university.

Across town near central Baghdad's Mustansiriyah university, another bomb went off killing a student and wounding eight others, according to a medic in the nearby al-Kindi hospital where they were treated.
