The following recalls have been announced:
— Birds Eye Foods is recalling 3 million packages of frozen cooked winter squash because some of the products were tainted with ammonia. The recall applies to 12-ounce packages sold under the Birds Eye and 16 store brands names with an eight-digit product code that starts with "5CF," "5JE" or "6JE." Ammonia can cause headache, nausea, vomiting and throat irritation. Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Birds Eye said it received fewer than a dozen complaints and that testing confirmed ammonia was present in a package sold under a store brand name. The brand names are: Stop & Shop, Shaw, Price Chopper, Lafe, Shurfine, Hannaford, Flavorite, Market Basket, Wegmans, Giant, Tops, Safeway, IGA, Roundy's, Remarkable and Dominicks. The squash was produced by Chase Farms in Walkerville, Mich.

http://www.fda.gov/opacom/7alerts.html— Rockline Industries is recalling wet wipes sold under various names at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores from Aug. 21 to Friday because they could contain a bacteria known as Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia). People with weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF), may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia, which also is a known cause of infections in hospitalized patients, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Products that are affected will likely have a bad odor described as sour milk, Rockline said.
