Six Afghan Children Killed in U.S. Attack
4 minutes ago

By STEPHEN GRAHAM, Associated Press Writer

KABUL, Afghanistan - Six children were killed during an assault by U.S. forces on a compound in eastern Afghanistan (news - web sites), a U.S. military spokesman said Wednesday, the second time in a week that civilians have died in action against Taliban and al-Qaida suspects.

The children died during an attack on Friday against a complex near the eastern city of Gardez where a renegade Afghan commander, Mullah Jalani, was believed to have stocked weapons, said Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty.

"The next day we discovered the bodies of two adults and six children," he said. "We had no indication there were noncombatants" in the compound.

Hilferty said that U.S. warplanes and troops attacked the compound in a nighttime raid, setting off secondary explosions. The bodies were discovered the following day. They appeared to have been crushed by a falling wall, he said.

Just more collateral damage and I'm sure the intelligence wasn't too intelligent again. Those kids got some nerve hanging around a war zone.:eyes:

I think they need to send investigators to investigate like the other 9 kids that got wasted just days ago.

"We had no indication there were noncombatants" in the compound.

Well excuse them for not coming out of their "compound" when US warplanes are bombing their place to shit.

21. No, really! We also had no idea that there were going to be...
...civilians living in any of the Iraqi cities when we bombed the crap out of them.

And who would have thought all of those celebrating civilians in Afghanistan were actually a wedding party?

Go figure.

This country has become, in the words of my WWII vet father, "The exact same thing that I fought against in Europe".

6. What is this childrens warcrime special week!
God this makes me mad. Can't some human rights organization do something or another country? 15 children in 1 week. You can't fight a war dropping bombs from a plane and guessing at your targets b/c your too scard to fight on the ground.

15. support the murderers you mean?
I can no longer respect any on of them who hasn't put down their guns and gone home, as this was not what they signed up to do. Sleepless nights, suicide and nightmares await these boys, the ones that have hearts, while the rest will run for office without remorse.

9. Where's Anne Frank? Sadako?
What this war needs is a name and a face to forge a connection with the carnage. World War II was symbolized by Anne Frank and Sadako. But even with today's vastly improved communications, we seldom get images or the stories behind the scenes.

Imagine the outrage if Iraqi freedom fighters nailed Bush's twins. We'd probably kill 20,000 civilians in revenge.

19. I hope you are not making a connection with Iraq to 9/11 ?
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 06:24 AM by ConcernedCanuk
. . I thought it was only the American Sheeples that believe that

. . on another point - I think the USA has WELL exceeded the killing of civilians that died in 9/11

"Reported civilian deaths resulting from the US-led military intervention in Iraq as of Saturday, 6th December 2003" -

Reported Minimum - 7935

Reported Maximum - 9766

OH - ANOTHER THING

- HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE SAYING WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND ?

- LIKE PAYBACK ?

well - the USA "did" a 9/11 to Chile in 1973 - only it was ALOT more than the 9/11 in 2001

"operations were accompanied by rampant official deception. WhenAllende was brought down by a vicious military coup led by General Pinochet on September 11, 1973, Kissinger testified later before the Senate Poreign Relations Committee that "the intent of the United States was not to destabilize or to subvert . . ."

(ya - right)

/snip/

"Pinochet murdered more than 3,100 Chileans, disappeared | 1,100 and tortured and jailed thousands more. He closed the ' Chilean Congress, banned political parties, censored the press and took over the universities. Through decree, the barrel of the gun and the touch of the electrode he imposed a seventeen-year dictatorship that became synonymous with human rights abuses at home and terrorist atrocities abroad. . "

Declassified documents reveal the US government's role
in the Pinochet coup>

It's a good "read"

- as if we did not know that Iraq is NOT the USA's first illegal war by far

17. What a BRILLIANT long-term strategy!
If we just keep killing Afghanistan's children, there'll be no one left to grow up and join the Taliban. Oh, it'll take decades to accomplish, but that means a solid financial future for entities like Halliburton. And what a great long-term product test for the New Private Army!

because the other thousands of children haven't gotten this front page attention. It's so depressing.

and if these were dead American children would the country be in an outrage? You can bet your boots on that one!!

But little rag heads, naw!, now let us go and sing our christmas songs and give to the poor and feed the hungry by giving a Christmas meal to the poor. And most of all let everyone know how giving we are while stealing oil.

don't hear about. Some of the posts here are referring to Iraq.
Don't mean to be nit-picky, but we need to keep these things straight.

There was a lot of support for our going into Afghanistan. There was not support for Iraq. I think the misAdmin and their media whores want these 2 wars to become fused together in sheeples minds.

Don't you wonder why we hear more and more about Afghanistan, the war that had multilateral support due to 9/11?

27. I just sent this letter to Schumer and Clinton
Dear Senator,
I am outraged to have just learned that six more children have died in Afghanistan as a result of U.S. military raids.

Imagine this scenario. Suspected terrorists hide out in a building in Atlanta, among them are families, women and children. Would US law enforcement blow up the building in order to kill the terror suspects? No. Why? Because we would value the lives of the innocent people and find another way to apprehend the terrorists.

Every time the United States kills innocent children in its crusade to "take the fight to the enemy", more young men and women around the world are filled with rage and swell the ranks of Al Quada and other terrorist organizations.

This is in effect pulling a bullseye target on my son's life, my son, my neighbors, myself. By supporting this type of military action where disregard for innocent life is the norm, you fail to make us safer and only increase suffering in the world and at home.

This is exactly why the message of Howard Dean is resonating with Democrats all over the country. I hope you will decide to support all endeavors to cease this reckless course Bush, Cheney and the other subscribers to the PNAC have set us on.
