3 More Bone Fragments Found at WTC Site
NEW YORK (AP) - Workers found three bone fragments in a second manhole at the World Trade Center site, close to where about 200 bones had already been recovered, officials said Monday.

The bone pieces, 1 to 2 inches long, were recovered Saturday along a service road on the site's western edge, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office. They were the first pieces of remains recovered from the site in more than a week.

Officials have said they are searching 12 manholes and other underground areas along the road that they said were missed during the initial recovery of body parts after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Workers recovered 199 pieces of remains in the first manhole they searched, but found none in another manhole and a utility service box, Borakove said.

1. I guess this means we never gathered evidence from this crime
scene, eh?

2. They did their best to find them all
I live in New York. I saw the pain of people losing loved ones on 9/11 with my own eyes. I can tell you that they did their best to find them all and I don't fault them for missing some bones. The amount of debris at that site was astonishing.

My only problem is I wish they'd stop fighting and get the rebuilding underway. Ray Nagin was right and it's disgusting that the site is still pretty much empty.

3. In NYC too
and I totally agree with you about the efforts made at recovery. I just feel so sorry for the families who are getting the new notifications about their loved ones. Man...

4. One idea would be to just stop
- stop collecting, stop returning body bits.

surprised nor offended at this turn of events.

Skyscrapers collapsing, commercial jets crashing, thousands of bodies torn to bits. Pandemonium. Debris everywhere........

They will be finding remains for years yet. And it's nobody's FAULT. It's just the way things pan out sometimes. I wish people would stop complaining about it and be grateful that remains ARE being recovered.

On edit: in my condo, for three full years after the Northridge earthquake, I was finding bits of dried food and chips of container glass in various nooks and crannies around the kitchen and dining area and living room. And I cleaned the place top to bottom and went over it with a fine-toothed comb (or so I thought) afterwards.

I found dried tomato bits and glass in my utensil drawer when I moved out in 1997. It had been cleaned at least three times already.

7. What is the size of the parts found?
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 02:50 PM by eliphaslevi
If it is anything like the other discovery (small bits on 50 story building rooftop) the evidence may further support the 9/11 controlled demolition hypothesis.
